I am religious and absolutely love this biblical name. What does the general public think and I know a lot Mumsnetters aren't Christians.

What about Ballonz?

My first thought was Bozo so not great. It sounds like a nn for something longer

I know a Bazen and think it’s a great name.

Many years ago there was a hillbilly character in Dallas with this name. Never heard of it since.

It is ok, but could attract teasing. A confident, popular kid would carry it off. Bo is a cool nn.

It makes me think of Borax

I love it. To me it is similar to Ezra, which I also love.
I like the Z sound.

Bo is a cool nn if you want one.
I am often baffled by the names that the mn jury likes and doesn't like, and it doesn't seem to bear any relationship to the people I know in the real world and their kids names.

Boaz in the Bible is an allround good guy too.

Makes me think of Oscar Wilde's lover, Bosie. He was actually called Alfred Douglas though, so at least he had something sensible to put on his CV.

It's really not. Horrible name.

It was a joke, dear.

Same. I don’t know a single person in real life who would call their child Boaz or Ezra

I love it but dd had a boy in her primary class called Boaz and he was lovely. Usually called Bo. He was just a lovely boy and other than me initial “I’ve not come across that name before” comments it became very normal.

The only Boaz I've ever heard of was "Boaz the Wizier" in Mary Renault's novel The Persian Boy.

One of the good guys of the Bible. I have a Boaz in my family history but I don't think it works particularly well with modern British surnames.

Could be worse though, his father was Salmon, which does not translate well to the 21st C UK.

This is a HUGE no from me (I'm not religious at all)

I think there's lots more commonly accepted biblical names. Luke, John, Cane, Ezra, Caleb

Only clicked to say Balonz!

roarfeckingroarr · 14/01/2023 15:05

I prefer its name cousin, ballonz.

Boaz is quite an important word in Freemasonry (which is religion based),

I don't like it to be honest, sounds a bit odd. He would be known as Bo, so Beau?

Ezra was very popular last year, just outside top 50!
There are dozens of them around

I’m sure there are. Like I said; I don’t know anyone with an Ezra. I didn’t say I don’t think they exist.

I don't know anyone with an Olivia. Name popularity is very odd
