I am religious and absolutely love this biblical name. What does the general public think and I know a lot Mumsnetters aren't Christians.

AceofPentacles · 14/01/2023 12:47

What about Ballonz?

Twoinapod · 14/01/2023 12:48

My first thought was Bozo so not great. It sounds like a nn for something longer

What about Ballonz?

Beat me too it. Best name ever

Onnabugeisha · 14/01/2023 12:50

I know a Bazen and think it’s a great name.

Banjaxx · 14/01/2023 12:52

Third to the the party with ballonz 😂

Trees6 · 14/01/2023 12:53

Many years ago there was a hillbilly character in Dallas with this name. Never heard of it since.

It is ok, but could attract teasing. A confident, popular kid would carry it off. Bo is a cool nn.

Sandysandwich · 14/01/2023 13:07

It makes me think of Borax

steppemum · 14/01/2023 13:17

I love it. To me it is similar to Ezra, which I also love.
I like the Z sound.

Bo is a cool nn if you want one.
I am often baffled by the names that the mn jury likes and doesn't like, and it doesn't seem to bear any relationship to the people I know in the real world and their kids names.

Boaz in the Bible is an allround good guy too.

2reefsin30knots · 14/01/2023 13:18

Makes me think of Oscar Wilde's lover, Bosie. He was actually called Alfred Douglas though, so at least he had something sensible to put on his CV.

ofwarren · 14/01/2023 12:13

It's really not. Horrible name.

It was a joke, dear.

HoldingTheDoor · 14/01/2023 13:47

It's awful.

Same. I don’t know a single person in real life who would call their child Boaz or Ezra

NeedAHoliday2021 · 14/01/2023 14:40

I love it but dd had a boy in her primary class called Boaz and he was lovely. Usually called Bo. He was just a lovely boy and other than me initial “I’ve not come across that name before” comments it became very normal.

Florissant · 14/01/2023 14:42

The only Boaz I've ever heard of was "Boaz the Wizier" in Mary Renault's novel The Persian Boy.

MadMadMadamMim · 14/01/2023 14:52

Makes me think of 'boak' which is vomit.

CPL593H · 14/01/2023 14:58

One of the good guys of the Bible. I have a Boaz in my family history but I don't think it works particularly well with modern British surnames.

Could be worse though, his father was Salmon, which does not translate well to the 21st C UK.

LaLuz7 · 14/01/2023 15:01

It's awful. Simply awful.

B1993 · 14/01/2023 15:03

This is a HUGE no from me (I'm not religious at all)

I think there's lots more commonly accepted biblical names. Luke, John, Cane, Ezra, Caleb

NashvilleQueen · 14/01/2023 15:05

Only clicked to say Balonz!

roarfeckingroarr · 14/01/2023 15:05

I prefer its name cousin, ballonz.

Boaz is quite an important word in Freemasonry (which is religion based),

I don't like it to be honest, sounds a bit odd. He would be known as Bo, so Beau?

SleepingStandingUp · 14/01/2023 15:08

Bozo. No

Ezra was very popular last year, just outside top 50!
There are dozens of them around

I’m sure there are. Like I said; I don’t know anyone with an Ezra. I didn’t say I don’t think they exist.

I don't know anyone with an Olivia. Name popularity is very odd

JustWhattheDoctorOrdered · 14/01/2023 15:26

I think Boaz is a great name!
