All bad sorry.
Mara is nice, Marina is ok.

i do know a little girl called Ocean. Not keen but it’s better than Oceana.

TheYummyPatler · 28/12/2022 19:50

Umed (moist in Romanian)

ljepljiv (Clammy in Bosnian)

so many water themed possibilities.

Ellie1015 · 28/12/2022 19:58

Lakelyn makes me think of lakeland shop.

Marina, Coral and many other suggestions that are lovely. Hope you find something.

ImperioMarch · 28/12/2022 20:07

Nerissa means "of the sea"

MajorCarolDanvers · 28/12/2022 20:21

These all sound like cruise ships or Fish & Chip shops.

OvaryActions · 28/12/2022 23:47

"Or Ariel"

Or Ursula

LesOliviers · 28/12/2022 23:56

Please don't. I worked with a woman who had a daughter called Ocean. She was one of the most rough and classless women I've ever had the displeasure to meet.

peaceinourtime · 29/12/2022 01:22

I know a child named Reef (male).

SilentNightDancer · 29/12/2022 19:32

Ondine? Means "little wave".

There's a ballet named Ondine too.

RambamThankyouMam · 29/12/2022 21:26

Lakelyn? You must be joking.

It's the sort of name you see on those dreadfully tacky American name signs above a baby's crib, usually with a middle name like Koa or Nova.

justcouldntthinkofausername · 29/12/2022 21:40

Sandy
Pearl
Coral
Ocean
Rivern
Shell / Chelle
Summer

I once came across an 'Atlanta' never heard it again since

JauntyRedShoes · 29/12/2022 21:56

Oceania (as well as being a nightclub, cruise ship, leisure centre, holiday park) is a geographical region. Sydney and Adelaide are both large population centres in the region and might suit your nautical theme or how about Polly (Polynesia). Ahoy…

LivingDeadGirlUK · 29/12/2022 21:59

Rockandgrohl · 27/12/2022 20:47

Oceana was the name of a chain of shit nightclubs in the early Noughties!

mara is nice and means the sea

My first thought too!

I really like River but the other suggestions sound made up to me.

NewMoonPhase · 29/12/2022 22:07

Dylan

NewMoonPhase · 29/12/2022 22:07

Coralie

NotABeliever · 29/12/2022 22:11

Please don't name your baby Oceana..it is just awful.

EmilyGilmoresSass · 29/12/2022 22:36

I'm still waiting on an orca pouncing out of a tiny pool to entertain the masses with that name.

bubblegumunicorn · 29/12/2022 23:33

What about the Irish name Oisin (pronounced like ocean! (Oh! Shan)

PurpleButterflyWings · 29/12/2022 23:33

No.

ODFOx · 29/12/2022 23:35

Marina
Maris
Coral
Naia
Ariel (not really sea but mermaidy!)
Alda is lovely (Scandinavian I think). I was at Uni with a girl called Alda from Iceland years ago. It is so pretty and strong.

ODFOx · 29/12/2022 23:40

Or go 'hippy/arty' and just use the nouns:
Ocean
Lake
Stream
Beck
Wave
Delta
Water
Rain
Rainbow
Mist

toomuchlaundry · 29/12/2022 23:43

Sailor? Really!

SoShallINever · 29/12/2022 23:46

Maris mean sea.
Stella Maris, star of the sea, but usually attributed to the Virgin Mary.

It doesn't seem right that you won't have a name that he loves and you like but you think it's fine to go with a name that you love and he likes Hmm

I’ve gone with names he loves and I like for our other 4 children 🙈

Thank you everyone- we both really like Coral. Still a compromise for us both as there are other names we really love, but don’t like each other’s loved names!!
Eliza is growing on me - DH loves that one. And then he said he would let me choose the middle name.
So possibly Eliza Ocean ?

oceana is off the list now, since reading the comment about Swansea 😭
