Denver & Dallas for twins

I am 31 weeks pregnant and my husband keeps insisting on the names Denver and Dallas for our identical twin girls. He told his entire family (without my knowledge) that it was the names WE picked. Personally I find it ridiculous.

My favorite names are Aurora and Elisa or Lola and Helena.

What do you think ?

Btw I am American and he is British. I am from Chicago, Illinois. So far away from Denver,Colorado or Dallas, Texas.

Lola is not short for Lolita. Lolita itself is a nickname for Dolores! Lola is another nickname for Dolores. Dolores is obviously a name linked to the Virgin Mary (‘Nuestra Señora de los Dolores’ - Our Lady of Sorrows).

So Lola is perfectly usable. It’s no more connected to the novel Lolita than it is to Dolores and the Virgin Mary! It’s close to Lolita which is obviously a novel but Lola has plenty of uses in popular culture outside of that. Lolita isn’t usable because of the book, but Lola is fine. I think the PP got their information wrong.

I’m assuming he was a massive 1980s American soap fan? Bizarre names. Do not let him persuade you. Anyone of my sort of age (late 40s upwards) will assume he couldn’t choose between Dynasty or Dallas!

Why not go the whole hog and do Blake Carrington Smith and JR Ewing Smith?

Because they’re all as legit as Denver and Dallas (aka the Denver Broncos & the Dallas Cowboys)

I had some neighbours move in who had teenage twin sons, named Darrell and Darren.
Then went to the other side of the world, and met a family(JW, not bogans) with six daughters - most of their names escape me, but there were sisters named Chanel and Chantelle* - and one of their sisters was named Cinnamon.

I thought the Denver and Dallas names were a joke!
(I say this as someone who was given the name of a famous film star's notorious daughter in the 60s - and the name is now very very chavvy, if used at all - and I have always hated it.)

Place names only really work for animals I find.

(We did have a horse called Monkey though - and also had a Magic Roundabout Theme going one year with the foals.)

I am so glad I posted here. Now my husband stopped with the whole Denver and Dallas "A long as you give up your names too". So we started from 0 and made a new list. I have to share his names,because they are so ridiculous Hahahaha. It is proper funny. He is not talking to me because I laughed at it, but I had to hahahaha.
