Thoughts on Theadosia:
Thumbs up. Thumbs down.

Theados(like a dose of medicine)A
Theadoz(like dozing)A
TheadosYA
TheadozYA

I like Theados(like a dose of medicine)A but worried others would pronounce it wrong.

Like how hamilton sing it

HarkHarkTheLark · 07/11/2022 16:46

Either 3 or 4. If you want Theados(like a dose of medicine)A take the "i" out, although people may still get it wrong if they're Hamilton fans.

RightsHoarder · 07/11/2022 16:47

I would have said Theodose (medicine) ee A

That's what I thought everyone would relate it too

yup. I googled Theodosia and it straight away came up with Theodosia, Aaron Burr's daughter

I would assume most people would only know it from the musical -

Isn’t it Theodosia, not Theadosia?

SageRosemary · 07/11/2022 16:53

If I saw that written down I would guess either Thea-dose-sha or Thea-dos-ee-ah (to rhyme with Maria)

Thumbs down from me, sorry!

Wouldn't be comfortable using a name I'd only ever seen written down.

Yeah. It's not my favourite. Would Athena be better for a non-Greek?????

Athena is lovely!

AdoraLovesCake · 07/11/2022 16:58

Theodosia Miriam Fern/Heather
or
Athena Miriam Fern/Heather/Cassandra

(I am not Greek)

There was an Irish novelist called Theodosia Hickey whose memoir suggests she pronounced it Theo-DOSE-(of medicine)-ee-a.

What is your concern about not being Greek? Athena is well recognised as a name internationally.

thetombliboo · 07/11/2022 19:23

I read this as
Thee (as in three without the r)
Ah
Doh (Homer Simpson)
Sia (amnesia) sha

Same. Like ‘thee-a-dosia’ to rhyme with ambrosia.

AuntieStella · 07/11/2022 19:25

thea-DOE-see-ya

zurala · 07/11/2022 19:28

I've never seen the name before. I'd say thee-a-doze-ee-ah

KirstenBlest · 07/11/2022 20:03

Isn't it Theodosia? I'd say it as Theo-dose-ya
