Thoughts on the name Rocco?

Rocco and Rocky are very common dog names. That might bother you.

I say this based on the reactions parents had to my dog named Milly, meeting their daughters, named Millie.

It is a common name in the South of Italy. I have met a few.

I'm in Puglia and have met 1 in thirty years. Named after grandfather and hating it.
237 born in the whole of Italy in 2020 which is the last year the Istat figures were released. 20% of all Roccos young and old are in Puglia though and presumably most of them are very old!
As has been said, it doesn't sound bad to the ear but I'd have the same reaction if an Italian couple told me they were calling their baby Mavis or Doreen.
If you remove the porn star (though unfortunately he's the most famous one) then it's just anachronistic.
Patron saint of plague and pandemic though, so might make a comeback.
