For dogs and low-grade influencers.

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 08/10/2022 21:56

I love it! 👍

outtheshowernow · 08/10/2022 21:59

Chav central

Luredbyapomegranate · 08/10/2022 21:59

Same.

also it’s Cheesy (in a non Italian context)

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 08/10/2022 22:02

Too rocky horror for me I'm afraid! And I love Rocky horror, but not for a babies name

Mummyx5 · 17/10/2022 18:47

I absolutely love it !!!
It has history "st rocco" so it's not a new fad name
It's not too common, unusual yes, but not too out there!
Super cute and cool that would be great for a baby toddler teenager and adult
As for porn star well who actually cares
Chavvy no
Great for a dog but let's face it dogs are given the best cutest cool names so great for anyone!!
I think it's an awsome name if you like it who really cares what people think 🤔
Who wants boring !
I say it an awsome name go for it x

OneCup · 17/10/2022 18:56

Pornstar, sorry. I don't even watch porn.

Mummyx5 · 17/10/2022 19:03

Well if that's what you think of show the level of your mentality x

Mimilamore · 17/10/2022 19:24

It's not a dog's name, hate this, dog's do not own names. My grandson is Rex, he is not a dog sand my great nephew is Felix, he is not a cat, the cat doesn't mind... think outside that little box people!
It is a lovely name, don't give a stuff what anybody thinks, better than being a sheep... now what is a sheep's name!?

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 17/10/2022 19:51

I'm not mad about it. Kind of name footballers were giving their son 10 years ago.

Mummyx5 · 17/10/2022 19:53

Exactly agree with you Mimilamore!
A name is a name whether it's for dogs, cats, babies and even sheep 😆
As long as you love it that is all that matters
People will always have opinions good bad ugly but who actually cares there's no right or wrong!
At the end of the day go for what you love don't follow the crowd don't be frightened to be individual be happy and confident
Rocco is a brilliant name !!

PuntoEBasta · 17/10/2022 19:54

It is very much an old man’s name in Italy and not in a chic way. A bit like naming your baby Nigel.

Mummyx5 · 17/10/2022 19:56

It's a good job we are not in Italy then 🤣🤣🤣

PuntoEBasta · 17/10/2022 19:57

What a weird thing to say.

Mummyx5 · 17/10/2022 20:01

Not as weird as saying rocco is the equivalent to nigel very strange

PuntoEBasta · 17/10/2022 20:07

I’m Italian and it is, in Italy. If you’re going to use a name from another country it’s a good idea to know how it’s perceived back there even if you decide you don’t care about that 🤷🏻‍♀️.

I like this board because people are knowledgeable and happy to share that knowledge so that parents can make informed choices, rather than a load of ‘u do u ignore the haterz hun’.

Have a nice evening.

Mummyx5 · 17/10/2022 20:32

Oh I will have a lovely evening
Thankyou so much xx
Oh and no I don't care if in your opinion its the equivalent of nigel
Very weird
I have family in Italy so I know its origins and popularity whether people like it or not at the end of the day its irrelevant
If someone likes it what does it matter
Oh and by the way i also like the name nigel 🤣
Thanks hun sending lots of love xx

Did you decide to use Rocco for your own baby in the end? (Your thread in September had you undecided)
I'm guessing so, given your support for it.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 17/10/2022 20:44

Are you new? Grin

Lilacsunflowers · 17/10/2022 20:45

Livingbestlife56 · 18/10/2022 10:02

Love the name rocco 👍

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 18/10/2022 10:24

Riccardo is very popular in Italy at the moment and might have a similar feel.

sposabagnata · 20/10/2022 19:48

I have registered to post this - my friend and I had exactly this conversation this week and she sent me a link. I am British but I am married to an Italian and I live in Italy. Rocco isn’t quite like Nigel in Italy. It is old-fashioned but there is also a slight innuendo to it due to the connotations other posters have mentioned. It would be more like naming a boy Dick or Roger, or a girl Fanny.

This is really specific to Italy however and if you don’t have any plans to travel here then I don’t think most people in the UK would know anything about those connotations!

Have taught a few - always seemed to become violent drug dealers. So no from me.
