Girls names to go with Hudson

2020firsttimemum · 05/10/2022 23:09

So our little boy is just over 2 and called Hudson.

I'm now 21 weeks with a baby girl and struggling for a girls name to go with his.

I like less common names but that are easy to spell / pronounce. I'm not fussed on the 'meaning' of the name etc

I actually have a really long list of girls names that I like as such, but would like other ideas or opinions

And the only reason people are responding with the ‘hilarious’ River comments are to show they don’t take it seriously as a name. It’s a stupid name, they think, only a (let’s be honest here) working class person would choose it so they are fair game for mocking.

If I started a thread about a sister for Georgia or India I wouldn’t get lots of <snort> how about Florida or Pakistan comments. A brother for Sidney no one will be spluttering what about Canberra or Melbourne. My child is Benjamin, should his sister be jemima or his brother Peter? No because all the above are nice MN approved names aren’t they?

People have different tastes, it does not give anyone the right to take the piss, you should be bloody ashamed (but I bet you’re not.)

Just utterly snobby and quite stupid. Bit like the faux innocent ‘oh is Hudson the baby’s last name?’ As if that makes you look clever - hint, it makes you look really stupid.

Stupid and really fucking nasty.

Sorry OP. FWIW I think Taylor has a nice sound to it and goes well with Hudson.

@2020firsttimemum you said you liked uncommon names. Google Upstairs Downstairs. Hudson (Mr) was the butler. Mrs Bridges was the cook. Her real name Hermione Baggely (or something like Baggely). I vote Hermione. Actually I think Angela goes with Hudson too.

I love Storm. Think it’s the just the right amount of unusualness to go with Hudson.

I love the name Hudson but this really made me smile! I think Piper, Paloma, Raphaella, Erin, Taylor, Christa, Lula, Saffron and Marcella have a similar vibe.

Hudson and Rafaella would be beautiful! 😍

Just to clarify - I loved the name Hudson when I chose it, and I still love it now.

I didn't ask for peoples opinions on my child's name, I like it and that's all that matters and it suits him. (He definitely doesn't look like a Jack that's for sure)

Thank you for all of the actual name suggestions.

My favs from the suggestions are
Harper
Eden (hadn't thought of this one)
Marlow (but I would drop the e - looks weird to me)
Adrienne
Paisley

There's quite a few names of the lists though that we can't use due to family and friends etc having children with those names.

One poster asked what names we did have - I don't really want to share the ones we do have because I don't fancy them being ripped apart on MN and me end up hating them 😂

Paisley is fine provided you have no plans to live in Scotland. As places go, there are nicer places than Paisley.
