Hey everyone!

Me and the other half are liking the names Maddison and Grace for our DD dur in December .
He really wants Grace, which i do like, but as more of a middle name?

For some reason, I just don't see it as a teenagers name or anyone other than a young child or elderly person 🤷🏼‍♀️🫣

Am I wrong??

It was my nans name and she passed September last year. My other daughter her my great grandmother's name as her middle name, so i think it'd be nice to carry on.

Maddison-Grace? Shortened to maddy?

NuffSaidSam · 27/09/2022 12:31

Grace is lovely.

I like Maddie, not keen on Madison.

ChocolateSpreadOnToast · 27/09/2022 13:13

It’s immensely popular (overused) so I would use Maddison. Maddie is a cute nickname.

Blossomhoney · 27/09/2022 13:17

I know teenagers who are called Grace and Maddison, lovely names.
Both of the Maddison’s I know are always called maddie.

Unicorn717 · 27/09/2022 13:19

I know a Maddison grace, I think it's a pretty name. It would probably be shortened to Maddy or something tho.

YouSoundLovely · 27/09/2022 13:23

Grace is much, much, much nicer than Maddison. Maddie is nice, but as a shortening for Madel(e)ine.

Grace is a very overused middle name, but you don't hear of so many with it as a first name - a bit like Louise in my generation - every other girl had it as their middle name, but it was almost slightly unusual (and very pretty) as a first name.

blameitonthecaffeine · 27/09/2022 13:36

Maddison Grace goes very well.

I love Grace as a first name though and I know teenagers with the name.

I've never actually met a Maddison and think of it as an American name but it's pretty popular in the UK too so there must be plenty of young Maddisons around. But it's definitely much more unusual than Grace among the children and young people that I know.

Longdarkcloud · 27/09/2022 13:46

Don’t use Grace Asa first name unless family genetics dictate that she is bound to be slender and graceful. If she’s likely to be ungainly as I have always been then Grace is inappropriate and will draw attention to the discrepancy

babyjellyfish · 27/09/2022 13:56

Grace is a much classier name than Madison.

SuperCamp · 27/09/2022 13:58

I like Grace.
I happen not to like Maddison.
Prefer Madeleine / Maddie to both.

MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 27/09/2022 13:59

The dd in Maddison looks wrong to me. Madison is better.

I think Grace is more of a Mumsnet name but I know so many of them that it sounds a bit tired to me at this point. Maddie has a bit more life to it.

Pemba · 27/09/2022 14:02

Isn't it Madison with one 'd'? I quite like the sound of it but Madeline or Madeleine is much nicer and a real girls name.

Grace is nice too and makes a good middle name even though its popular.

FayCarew · 27/09/2022 14:19

What @YouSoundLovely said. Grace is much nicer than Maddison, which is a surname (I know Grace can be a surname, but it's not that common). Grace as a middle name is so overused.

Penguinsaregreat · 27/09/2022 20:37

I think Grace is much nicer than Maddison. They first Grace I ever knew was a middle aged, overweight woman. I don’t know where people get this idea that all Graces must be willowy and thin. Are all Hunters actually hunters? Or all Ebony’s black?

AvonCallingBarksdale · 27/09/2022 20:40

Madison is not a nice name really. How about Madeleine? Much classier. Grace is a lovely name although very over used now

Luredbyapomegranate · 27/09/2022 22:41

Deckthewallswithpaintandplaydough · 27/09/2022 12:30

Maddison-Grace? Shortened to maddy?

Never hyphens. Never

Plenty of teen Graces around, it’s a lot nicer than Maddison, which it’s dated 80s

AliBaliBears · 27/09/2022 23:30

Not keen on Maddison - sounds very dated American to me. I like Madeleine/Maddie.

Grace is such a commonly used middle name. I prefer it as a first name.

Grace Madeleine is lovely.

DramaAlpaca · 27/09/2022 23:47

I'd use the spelling Madison. It looks much better.

I'm not a huge fan of Grace but it's fine as a middle name.

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 28/09/2022 00:14

Love Grace as a first name .

S25 · 30/09/2022 16:10

Grace feels like it’s been overused for quite some time now. Maybe you could have a look at other names that mean Grace or gracious so for example: Evanna?

I think it’s very pretty and quite unique. I’ve never actually heard it used irl and only ever heard of Evanna Lynch (the actress that plays Luna Lovegood in HP)

I’m not keen on Maddison similarly to other comments on here but Madeleine or Madeline is pretty.

SkyeBlue28 · 30/09/2022 16:47

I think Grace is a lovely first name and I would prefer it over Maddison

ChagSameachDoreen · 30/09/2022 18:53

Maddison is horrendous and Grace is so common now.

Pieceofpurplesky · 30/09/2022 19:25

Maddison is lovely - there are quite a few teens called Maddison (I teach 3 at the moment). Maddison Grace is lovely.

Gracie?

ninkasi90 · 02/12/2022 09:21

Still not decided on a name 🫣😂

Our top three are now
Addison
Erin
Madison

Either way her middle name will be Grace.

Hate leaving things to the last minute and she's already head down and engaged!

My first had her name set at 22weeks (Lexie Rose)

Grace is much nicer than Maddison

There will be plenty if young Graces when she grows up.

Maddison is a bit dated 80s like Ashley, and not especially attractive.
