Hey everyone!

Me and the other half are liking the names Maddison and Grace for our DD dur in December .
He really wants Grace, which i do like, but as more of a middle name?

For some reason, I just don't see it as a teenagers name or anyone other than a young child or elderly person 🤷🏼‍♀️🫣

Am I wrong??

It was my nans name and she passed September last year. My other daughter her my great grandmother's name as her middle name, so i think it'd be nice to carry on.

Oh I see - Erin then

Addison is really awful.

KirstenBlest · 02/12/2022 09:36

Addison makes me think of the courier/cab firm
Madison seems very dated
Both are surnames (Son of Adam/Matthew)

I'm not keen on Erin but it is miles better than the other two. Grace is overused as a middle name, but as middle name are hardly ever used, don't let put that you off. If you have a common surname, she could end up one of two Erin Grace Surnames in her peer group.

babyjellyfish · 02/12/2022 09:38

Erin 100%.

ninkasi90 · 02/12/2022 09:55

The other half isn't a big fan of most names, so it's been a hard one 😂

Her middle name will be Grace no matter the first name, as it was my nans name and my other daughter, Lexie has Rose as hers, as it was my great grandmothers name, so not because i think it's beautiful, so it being common isn't an issue. My middle name is Louise 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

I prefer Erin out of the three and the OH likes the idea of a name that can be shortened (maddie, mads 🙄, adi)

Addison makes me think of Addison's disease as that's the only context I've ever heard it in.

I like Erin. Grace is also nice as a first name - but perhaps a bit boring as a middle name.

KirstenBlest · 02/12/2022 15:29

OH likes the idea of a name that can be shortened
Like Lexie?

TheBirdintheCave · 02/12/2022 15:41

Erin Grace.

Madison (son of Maud/Matthew) and Addison (son of Adam) are surnames and, by their meaning alone, aren't suitable for girls. It would also make for quite an awkward conversation if your husband isn't called Matthew or Adam.

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/12/2022 15:41

How about Meredith? - Merry or Edie for short

tothesea · 02/12/2022 15:43

Erin is lovely. Not keen on the others.

FayCarew · 02/12/2022 16:03

@Luredbyapomegranate , how on earth do you get Edie from Meredith?

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 02/12/2022 16:11

Addison is a boy's name surely? And as pp mentioned also the name of a disease.

Madison Grace has a nice flow to it and I like the nn Maddy (though the ones I know are all Madeleine)

Erin is a gorgeous name and was on my shortlist 😊

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 02/12/2022 16:12

Also I know two girls with the nn Addie/Adi, one is Adeline and one is Ariadne

S25 · 02/12/2022 23:32

Erin

Theoldwoman · 03/12/2022 14:54

Grace is 1000 times better and I know some lovely teens called Grace (in Australia)

Pemba · 04/12/2022 04:01

Addison is bloody awful. And it has the meaning 'son of Adam' I think, so how is it suitable for a girl's name?

I realise that plenty of people do use it for girls, but there are always people with no taste. Madison would at least be better than Addison, even if it is really a surname, and it has a nicer sound. But why not Madeleine? That's beautiful.

Trez1510 · 04/12/2022 04:17

Charlotte Grace
Charlie Grace
Lottie Grace
Francessca Grace
Cheska Grace
Frankie Grace

I think the nn's of Charlotte and Francessca sit well with Lexie.

Pemba · 04/12/2022 04:25

It's Francesca, one 'S'. Apart from that I agree with your suggestions, very nice.

NessieMcNessface · 04/12/2022 04:37

Prefer Grace by far to Maddison and think Lexie and Grace go well together. As many others have said, I would go for Madeleine if you want the abbreviations Maddie or ‘Mads’. Erin is OK but I’m afraid I really don’t like Addison at all.

soulinablackberrypie · 04/12/2022 09:42

I actually like Grace very much and think it would make a great first name. I definitely prefer Madison with one D to Maddison, and I think everyone will assume it's spelt with one D so you'd be saving her a lot of problems if you chose that version.

CaptainCastillo · 04/12/2022 15:30

I would go with Grace Madison but Madison Grace Is adorable too!

Angrymum22 · 04/12/2022 15:35

Lots of Maddies and Graces in my sons year ( upper sixth) at school. Both lovely but I do prefer Madeleine to Maddison.

IDontWantToBeAPie · 04/12/2022 16:41

Both fine. Only issue I have with Grace is that if your child isn't graceful it highlights the fact.

Nice names though.

CaptainCastillo · 04/12/2022 17:31

I just realized I messed up my previous comment. I meant It the other way around: I would go with Madison Grace but Grace Madison Is lovely aswell!

antipodeancanary · 04/12/2022 17:41

Out of what you've got left its got to be Erin Grace. If Madeleine could be considered, that would be better. Madeleine Grace.

ChildrenOfTheQuorn · 05/12/2022 16:59

Erin, a thousand times.

Addison and Maddison are tacky American names imo.
