One syllable boys and girls names

Do you ever feel like you’ve looked at that many names that they’ve all blended into one? That’s where I’m at!

I’m due a surprise baby in 11 weeks and we are still no closer to finding a name for this baby. We have a son who has a one syllable name (quite usual in UK more popular in US) and are looking for something similar.

Our surname is 3 syllables, common Scottish surname (ends in ‘on) so ideally wanted a one syllable first name so it flowed.

I know i’m being picky, but names are very important. We just knew with my sons name, but nothing is standing out for us to even consider putting it on a list for when they are born.

Can anybody suggest some one syllable boys and girls names that are not overly popular in the UK?

Thanks so much 😊

Jean - being revived
Jane
Liv (Scandi)
Maude
Clare - not used much now but classic
June
Fern - getting quite popular though..
Hope
Bay
Faith
Anne

There are a lot more for girls if you don’t mind it being short for something

Guy
Joss
Joel
Rafe
John
Blaise
Saul
Mark
Luke - Lucas is popular but don’t think Luke is
Lorne - a nice Scottish one..

I though there were more for boys, but I think the trouble is a lot of them are v popular (James, George, Jude, Max, Jack, Finn)

Forgot Clare/Claire! I gather that's dated now. I rather like it.

Amy - not one syllable obviously but still nicely simple and might sound nice with your surname.

I had a (probably the same) Scottish 3 syllables surname and a 1 syllable first name which I hate, it’s so boring even when put with the surname. It’s been mentioned as a possible name by several pp. And when you hate a short name you can’t shorten it! Some friends lengthen it but it’s not as easy as shortening a name would be

My siblings all had 2 syllable names and I think they flow much better with the longer surname.
