lovely name for an Irish setter.

Hobbesmanc · 06/09/2022 15:55

I think it's a great alternative to other Xy names like Max, Felix, Alex

Rex Harrison- such a legend too!

SallyWD · 06/09/2022 15:58

I love it! I think it's cool (and I knew a very cool Rex). Strong, classic yet feels contemporary.

Drivebye · 06/09/2022 15:59

It's a dogs name, sorry.

Sux2buthen · 06/09/2022 15:59

It's a nice name

MassiveSalad22 · 06/09/2022 16:00

On the one hand I really like it.

On the other hand it sounds quite harsh to me - the growl of the R, the X, the dinosaur and dog connotations. On the OTHER hand, doesn’t it mean king? So quite grandiose.

Cheeselog · 06/09/2022 16:00

I think
T
Dog
Oedipus

So it’s a no from me.

Gonnagetacatwhenimovein · 06/09/2022 16:00

Dog name

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 06/09/2022 16:00

Love it.

AmberGer · 06/09/2022 16:05

I am quite open and liberal in my view of names usually but Rex is definitely a dog's name, sorry.

Tootyfilou · 06/09/2022 16:07

Its a dogs name.

Pemba · 06/09/2022 16:09

Dog or dinosaur, sorry. Max is nice, though?

Spanielsarepainless · 06/09/2022 16:12

I love it. I have known several and it suits an adult better than a child. And you are generally adult for longer.

UpToMyElbowsInDiapers · 06/09/2022 16:13

Congratulations on your puppy!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 06/09/2022 16:15

It was my grandfather's name, although he was mostly known as Reggie. I quite like it, but none of my siblings or cousins have used it at all for their own children.

WideOpenSpaces · 06/09/2022 16:17

I have a Rex and have had nothing but compliments - some people probably don't like it but I couldn't care less ! It's a great name, strong and cool and classic in my opinion

daveyfish · 06/09/2022 16:18

I love Rex, overdue a resurgence, I like Max as well, husband thought they were dog names but if I’d had a boy they would have been on the shortlist

mathanxiety · 06/09/2022 16:22

Love it.

It has a James Bond vibe to it.

I think it's going to climb the charts fast as it has that X, is short, universally pronounceable, and comes across as the name of a popular and confident boy.

I really like it but then I've got a 17yr old Dexter, often called Dex.
Yes, I've met dogs with the name Rex and Dexter. I've also know boys/men called Otis, my dogs name and girls/women called Dolly, my cats name!
Loads of girls/women with the same name used for dogs - Rosie, Betsy, Betty, Cilla, Ruby, Lily, Cleo, Gina.....just a few I can think of that I know.
Also know of dogs called Dave, Tommy, Rufus, Joe........

youcantry · 06/09/2022 16:24

In case it wasn't clear, my Dexter is a young human man!

Cassie71 · 06/09/2022 16:26

Rex the runt comes to mind.

Dinoteeth · 06/09/2022 16:26

Rufus is definitely a dogs name because dogs go ruff, ruff. 😆

emmathedilemma · 06/09/2022 16:28

Great for a dog, less so for a child.

Rex is like the stereotypical dog name though, rather than a human name on a dog. It’s like calling your child Fido.
