Are Erin and Iris too similar???

Thinking of Iris as a potential name if baby #2 is a girl. We already have an Erin - do you think the names are too similar or do they sound ok together? It wasn't until I wrote the names out that I started questioning it (I think it's the look of the names, with them both being four letters and having 'ri' in the middle, rather than the sound..!)

Yes, I think so - sound wise as well

SheilaFentiman · 17/08/2022 22:15

Rose, Rosa, Daisy, Lily - ?

DramaAlpaca · 17/08/2022 22:18

I don't think they are too similar at all, in fact I really like them together. They don't look similar written down, and they sound very different.

DaisyP24 · 17/08/2022 22:19

Not too similar and go well together

Violettaa · 17/08/2022 22:20

I really like them together. They match (not that they need to) without sounding repetitive.

bbqhulahoop · 17/08/2022 22:20

I think they're lush names and sound amazing together!

sundayvibeswig22 · 17/08/2022 22:20

Not too similar.

Brunonono · 17/08/2022 22:20

Not similar at all and love them both.

Smilingwithfangs · 17/08/2022 22:23

i don’t think so and both lovely names

thefemaleJoshLyman · 17/08/2022 22:24

What about Nancy? We have an Erin and were going to use Nancy as a second DD (we had a DS).

Sunnyshoeshine · 17/08/2022 22:27

I have an Erin too :) I think Iris goes lovely with Erin.

MuddlerInLaw · 17/08/2022 22:29

They’d be perfect for twins. But I somehow feel they’re too same-y for sisters.

Isla?
Orla?
Viola?

LoveKingGary · 17/08/2022 22:29

They are both nice but to me they don't actually go that well together. I see them as quite different styles.

Luredbyapomegranate · 17/08/2022 22:35

No, I think they go well

Lois, Linos or Ines would be alternatives

SparkyBlue · 17/08/2022 22:37

I think they go fab together and are great names for sisters. Definitely not too similar both have completely different meanings but go really well together. Erin was on our shortlist for DC3

Youremyshininglight · 17/08/2022 22:38

Not at all. I think they are lovely together.

BrightBlueFlamingo · 17/08/2022 22:42

Lovely, both beautiful!

FayCarew · 17/08/2022 22:49

A little. They are quite different in vibe.

RuthW · 17/08/2022 22:49

I don't think they are similar at all. They go well together

ratussbaguss · 17/08/2022 23:12

No

SycamoreTall · 18/08/2022 07:34

They're great, not to samey at all.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 18/08/2022 07:48

How about Eirlys?

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 18/08/2022 07:49

It’s snowdrop in Welsh and I love it.

KangarooKenny · 18/08/2022 07:52

No, I don’t think they are similar.

KirstenBlest · 18/08/2022 08:38

@YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp , it's a granny name, and a bit tricky to pronounce unless you have a rhotic r
