What are your thoughts on Edgar?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
TuftyMarmoset · 16/07/2022 21:10

It’s really ugly, sorry. Also I think it’s the name of the bad guy in the Aristocats or something like that?

CheshireCats · 16/07/2022 21:10

Horrible

Greenday49 · 16/07/2022 21:11

I quite like it. I had a lovely boss in the late 90s called Edgar-however he did get known as 'Eggie' which may not be a nice-sounding nickname!

ItsSnowJokes · 16/07/2022 21:12

I like it and we had it on a list for our youngest (who was a girl in the end). A lot of people don't though.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 16/07/2022 21:12

Love it.

yonce · 16/07/2022 21:12

I love it!!

Primatrying · 16/07/2022 21:15

I loathe it as it makes me think of rotten eggs. Sorry.

FuckingHateRats · 16/07/2022 21:16

Can't see past King Lear.

DramaAlpaca · 16/07/2022 21:20

There are very few names that are more ugly than Edgar.

WarmBeerAndSandwiches · 16/07/2022 21:21

Too much of a King Lear connection.

FlissyPaps · 16/07/2022 21:57

I also think of Eggs or Eggy. Sorry OP.

mum2jakie · 16/07/2022 21:59

I like Edward, like Edmund, so should like Edgar really but just find it too 'eggy' in its sound. It is unusual without being 'weird' though

Ellmau · 16/07/2022 22:10

I like it.

pogostickplastique · 16/07/2022 22:50

Why do you dislike this child so much already? 😂 is it the morning sickness resentment?

Morverner · 16/07/2022 22:53

I know a fabulous kind hearted guy called Edwin, so I always have good vibes about Edwin as a name choice. Edgar I can't quite get the same feel good vibes about, not sure why though.

Evasmissingletter · 16/07/2022 23:43

I love it

SummaLuvin · 17/07/2022 11:39

Crème de la crème a la Edgar

Luredbyapomegranate · 17/07/2022 12:22

Not keen

Edmund and Edwin both much nicer

I have heard worse though. He likely be shortened to Eddie, Ned or Ted anyways

Mrstwiddle · 17/07/2022 12:24

It’s very ugly. Edwin is nicer if you wanted something similar.

toastofthetown · 17/07/2022 14:45

I don’t love Edgar. It sounds harsh and clunky to me. Edmund is my favourite of the Ed- names. Edgar brings to mind the ineffective cat-killing butler from the Aristocats.

FourChimneys · 17/07/2022 14:47

It is one of my favourite boys names. I have known two Edgars, both lovely people. One was always called Edgar, the other was sometimes called Ed.

Pudsocks · 17/07/2022 14:50

Strongly dislike, but I love Edwin

whatausername · 17/07/2022 17:55

My thoughts are not positive

PhotoDad · 17/07/2022 17:58

Yes, thought of King Lear right away!

Lalosalamanca · 17/07/2022 18:03

Me kinda likey
