Can I just point out the the person some of you are referring to as "Pippa Middleton" is on record as saying she prefers to be called by her full name, Philippa? Just like her sister, she has been the unwilling victim of the press's fondness for shortening everything. I'm surprised the brother doesn't get Jim.

I think Pippa is quite an attractive name, sweet enough for a little girl but not too cutesy for an adult. I know an adult Philippa who usually goes by Pippa (she must be about 30ish). But I honestly prefer Pippa and would probably use it as a full name if that was what I wanted to use day-to-day. Pippa feels classless to me, Philippa sounds a bit more stuck-up and horsey (which is funny because the meaning actually means someone who likes horses, but I don't get that vibe off the masculine Philip).

William refers to his wife as Kate. At least he did in their engagement interview. And then post-wedding they started pretending that she was always called Catherine.

And the sister had a couple of party planning books published under the name...Pippa Middleton. So I'm not sure your theory holds.

I like Pippa, it reminds of my Pippa doll, but I am a child of the 70s. Pippi (as in Longstocking) is nice too.

Love it! I know a little Pippa and it is a fabulous name. Knowing one, I know it will suit her and be elegant when she is an adult too.

I have a Pippa! (10mths) I wasn't convinced on the name all through pregnancy at all, but she became nicknamed 'Pip' during pregnancy since she was the size of an apple pip at 5wks gestation 🥰 hence why we considered it.
(DH and DD1 were keen) Nothing else felt like a definite yes for me either though, and when she was born I just knew she needed to be Pippa....I couldn't imagine her not being nicknamed 'Pip' anymore! And the name really suits her cute and cheeky little personality.We nickname her all sorts if things...Pip, Pips, Pippy, Pippin, Pipsqueak!

I also know another Pippa, DD1's school friend who lives just around the corner.She is also fun, cute and cheeky and suits the name. I've also heard of afew others recently...think it's becoming quite popular.

Why not just call Penelope ‘Poppy’?

I'm not keen on Pippi, Poppi, Pippa, Peppi type names at all. They sound childish and a little comical.

I love Pippi, Poppy, Peppi, Pippa names. I know one and she's fab. Bright, quirky and fun.

A bit of whataboutery doesn’t change the fact Pippa travels poorly, meaning anything from wank to piss, depending on the country in question.

The equestrian Pippa Funnell was exclusively known as Philippa when competing in Europe for a reason.

Knowing the above, I simply wouldn’t use the name.

I don't like either Pippa or Phillipa.
