Harriet (Hattie)
Lara
Maggie
Mara
Megan
Molly
Nora
Ottilie (Ottie/Tillie)

Thanks! X

Eliza, Freya, Ottillie (especially love the nicknames you've listed for that) and Phoebe.

We called our girl Evelyn, but our older boy struggles to say it so she gets called Evvy at home which we also really love. If you'll need to shorten it for any reason it's worth loving the shortened version too.

TeddyTonks · 04/06/2022 19:39

Lara, Sadie, Elizabeth (Libby) and Harriet would be my shortlist from your picks.

Some of the others (for me!) are too fussy. Penny is very wet.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 04/06/2022 19:40

Fern and Lara are lovely. The rest I'm afraid I'm not keen on, or are really boring.

HisHX · 04/06/2022 19:40

@CatSeany oh I love Evelyn/Evvy / unfortunately it doesn’t go with our surname at all or else the list would be even longer! I do really love Ottillie but DH worries that it’s pretentious and faddy

HisHX · 04/06/2022 19:43

@TeddyTonks thank you! Is there anything in particular that makes you think that about Penny? I’ve never considered it ‘wet’ but may be going name blind!
Libby is my favourite today but may be jubilee influenced and wonder if Elizabeth will see a surge this year?!

TeddyTonks · 04/06/2022 19:45

I just find Penelope overly frilly and fussy tbh. Sorry that's not very specific, but when I had my long list I sort of appreciated negative opinions to help me slim it down 😂

HisHX · 04/06/2022 19:45

@halfsiesonapotnoodle thank you! Lara is one we both really like

OP posts:
Frenchyfrog · 04/06/2022 19:46

Libby is lovely (will always remind me of neighbours!). Ottilie is certainly not pretentious! It’s very popular at the moment.

HisHX · 04/06/2022 19:49

@TeddyTonks definitely! I would love to have 1-3 and was hoping posting here I’d be able to rule some out quickly!

Eliza
Sadie
Nell
are my favourites

jumperoozles · 04/06/2022 19:53

Ada - lovely but v popular (I'm a nursery/EYFS teacher)
Eliza - lovely
Elizabeth (Libby) - lovely and growing in popularity
Fern - love this
Freya - very nice
Georgina (Georgie) - nice but prefer Georgia
Harriet (Hattie) - gorgeous, this is my favourite
Lara - Lara Croft association? But again I like
Maggie - cute but a bit nicknamy? would Margaret be an option as a full name?
Mara - don't like sorry!
Megan - a bit 90s for me! Have lots of friends called Megan my age (30s)
Molly - don't like sorry!
Nora - loveeeeee this. I know the cutest little Nora. But do prefer the spelling Norah
Ottilie (Ottie/Tillie) - too popular atm, a popular blogger has just named their baby this so expecting quite a few to start school in a few years time
Penelope (Penny/Nell) - cute!
Phoebe - don't like sorry!
Sadie - don't like sorry!
Tabitha (Tabby) - cute

How about some of these:

Heidi
Bonnie
Ettie
Etta
Ciara
Millie
Margot (love this name)

User6761 · 04/06/2022 19:59

My favourites are

Mara
Libby
Nell
Norah (looks unfinished to me without the h!)

Not so keen on Elizabeth or Penelope as full names though - too long for my tastes.

The only one of your list I dislike is Tabitha.

Good luck choosing!

HisHX · 04/06/2022 19:59

@jumperoozles thank you! I’ll take out Ada as don’t want something too popular. I would prefer a ‘long version’ of Maggie but detest Margaret, maybe I’ll delete that one too.
love Etta/Ettie - maybe full name of Henrietta could work?

HisHX · 04/06/2022 20:01

@User6761 thank you! My DH grandmother was Nora so always think of that spelling, but was actually short for ‘Honora’ (which I would not use), so maybe Norah would be better!
I think Libby is really taking the lead tbh.

Using Elizabeth would allow you both Eliza and Libby, plus many more options including Liza, Elle, Lily, Beth, Betty etc. depending on how she would like to be known as she ages

MayBeee · 04/06/2022 20:05

Amdone123 · 04/06/2022 20:08

I met a Maggie and commented to her mum, how lovely, Margaret is a great name. But mum said it was short for Magnolia !
I love your list. Ada I like, but yes, it's very popular. I don't like Ottilie for same reasons as your dh, and I love Penelope, not Penny.
Elizabeth is my favourite. Love Freya. My granddaughter was Freya til the last minute. Despite its popularity, I don't know any ( still).
I love Harriet and Tabitha.
Also love Martha and Clementine.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 04/06/2022 20:10

I love Libby, but I suspect that variations / diminutives of Elizabeth may be very popular this year!

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 04/06/2022 20:11

How about Margot and Maggie for short?

Mymoneydontjigglejiggle · 04/06/2022 20:14

I absolutely love Libby and Penny. They'd be top of my list too. Also love Tabitha. Nora and Georgina are both lovely. I dislike Harriet (I dislike Harry and Harrison for a boy too - something about that sound is unpleasant to me). I'm not fond of Mara or Sadie either. I do like Freya and Molly too.

mathanxiety · 04/06/2022 20:19

Your DH is right about Ottilie.

I like -
Ada
Lara
Nora
Penelope
Sadie
Harriet (Hattie)

17caterpillars1mouse · 04/06/2022 20:43

Ada - I like it but it blends in with all the three letter, ends in a names so I would avoid. I love Adaline though which is similar

Eliza - lovely but very popular in my area. I know loads! More Eliza's that Olivia's and Amelia's

Elizabeth (Libby) - I like Elisabeth (prefer this spelling) but not Libby. My favourite nns are Betsy and Beth

Fern - not a fan at all

Freya - pretty but again very popular (though more with 7 plus in my area)

Georgina (Georgie) - lovely. I also like Georgia and Georgiana. Also partial to Georgette and Georgetta too come to think about it, though hate George on a boy, go figure

Harriet (Hattie) - lovely. I love Hattie. Ever so slightly prefer Henrietta

Lara - lovely but there are so many L names about that all blend into one

Maggie - beautiful name

Mara - not a fan

Megan - i really like it, but worry it's a bit dated

Molly - not a fan

Nora - I like it but spelt Norah

Ottilie (Ottie/Tillie) - it's ok

Penelope (Penny/Nell) - like Penny and Nell but can't find the love for Penelope unfortunately

Phoebe - love it, also love the similar sounding Hebe

Sadie - I really like it

Tabitha (Tabby) - not a fan, makes me think of cats too much. I love the similar sounding Talitha though NN Talllie - might appeal as you like Tilly

HisHX · 04/06/2022 21:09

@17caterpillars1mouse oh I absolutely love Talitha and nn Tallie/Tally! I’d never heard of this name, thank you so much
