Molly or Nell?

We're having our first baby and the names we have narrowed down are:

Molly Florence
Nell Grace

We're leaning towards Molly as it slightly better fits our surname and we feel it flows better.

So difficult choosing names! We original liked Penelope but my mum poo poo'ed it straight away! 🙈

Penelope shortened to Nell. Nell isn't a full name.

Molly would my choice. Nell is a nickname to me.

Grace is so overused as a middle name.

Nell is great, not keen on Nellie.
Molly is fine, as is Moll

Molly definitely. Not keen on one syllable names. I do like penelope too

I think it’s nicer to have a full first name. I prefer Nell - it’s stringer and better for a grown up, but Molly Is nice enough. Molly is a diminutive of Mary, so I’d personally make it something like Marianne or Maria nn Molly so she has a more grown up option.

I would use Florence as a middle name either way as Grace such a cliche

Given you like both Penelope and Nell, I think you should go with Penelope Grace, nickname Nell.

Nothing wrong with Molly but feels dated to me now, a bit boring. Nell is much better.

I have a Nell. It's actually a really old name but not many have it. I love it

Nell in modern times is a proper name it means Shining light. Love it and that's why I called my daughter Nell

Thanks everyone, I agree with what people are saying in that Grace as a middle name seems overused these days.

We just weren't sure if Florence went with Nell.

I think we will wait to see her to name her but I'm glad so many people like the names 😊

Nell Florence flows better than Nell Grace

The Molly's I know are all between the ages of 6 & 18, to me Molly is quite a posh name based on the ones I know... Love Nell too

I like both Nell and Molly. Sound like a pair of no- nonsense 17th century women who ran a tavern, and indulged in a bit of highway robbery on the side.

I absolutely love molly Florence. Not so sure on Nell Grace and Penelope is lovely too.

I know a Nell and she really is a nasty piece of work, that would massively put me off. Penelope is lovely though.

Penelope is a beautiful name. I like Nell too.

I much prefer Nell to Molly. Penelope nn Nell is lovely, use it if you still like it, and tell nobody your choices!

I prefer Nell but Grace is definitely not the right middle name for it. You need something longer otherwise it sounds like somebody snapping at you.

I like Molly but all the ones I know get shortened to Molls which I really don't like
