Me and my husband are really struggling to agree a name for a our baby boy.
We both love the name Emrys but our surname is Emms.
We are divided on if Emrys Emms has a lovely flow to it or if its too much.
What do you think?
AntarcticTern · 14/05/2022 21:57
Too much, sorry!
dontknowhow2help · 14/05/2022 21:57
What about Ellis? Or Heath?
Ikeameatballs · 14/05/2022 21:58
Too much!
dontknowhow2help · 14/05/2022 21:58
Not heath, just realised how that might sound with Emms
HSKAT · 14/05/2022 21:58
Too much for me sorry
SomersetONeil · 14/05/2022 21:58
No, you can’t use those two names together.
Emrys is genuinely the ONLY name you both like….?!
titchy · 14/05/2022 21:59
M squared could be quite a cool nickname
RoseMartha · 14/05/2022 22:00
Too much
DramaAlpaca · 14/05/2022 22:01
Emrys is nice, but too much with the surname.
thistimelastweek · 14/05/2022 22:02
Sounds fine to me.
tararabumdeay · 14/05/2022 22:10
Emrys Emms is a future BBC journalist.
Spanglebob · 14/05/2022 22:15
Yes hubby has vetoed all my choices and the only other name he like is ziggy which I vetoed.
poochuspoochus · 14/05/2022 22:22
I like it. I don't think it's too much
Wigeon · 14/05/2022 22:23
Way too similar. And he might get known as Em Emms, which sounds silly.
Sodthatforagameofsoldiers · 14/05/2022 22:26
Emrys is nice but with Emms it's a bit much. I really don't like Ziggy though, it's roughly a thousand times better than that
17caterpillars1mouse · 14/05/2022 22:26
I really like the days together. Obviously in the minority here but it sounds like a cool name to have.
Emrys is a lovely, underused boys name.
tararabumdeay · 14/05/2022 22:27
I know some people with the surname Emms. They are all lovely and wonderful.
ystaberia · 14/05/2022 22:28
I like it!
IamnotwhouthinkIam · 15/05/2022 01:34
Lovely! I love the name Emrys anyway (both sound and meaning) but the alliteration gives it an extra special lyrical sound/flow imo. I admit to bias but I think alliteration can help make names more memorable - I only think it can sometimes sound tongue twisty if both names are similar in sound AND syllable number (although this hasn't harmed David Davies) which obviously Emrys Emms isn't.
Ziggy sounds like a nn/pet name to me, not a full name.
Ihatethenewlook · 15/05/2022 01:43
It’s a non issue op, people on here go a bit mental over names, they don’t really represent real life. He’s going to be called by his first name, not by both. And at most people who hear the names together may think ‘that’s a bit unusual’, but I think that about the majority of names nowadays. I’m not keen on the name myself, but I can still honestly say that’s down to personal preference, there’s nothing wrong with the actual name 🤷🏼♀️
Ihatethenewlook · 15/05/2022 01:44
Btw there’s all kinds of wrong with the name ziggy 👀😂
Fizzyfish · 15/05/2022 01:44
It's a no from me 😬
GlamGiraffe · 15/05/2022 01:46
It's MM's to me!
nometo4 · 15/05/2022 03:01
Eminem vibes..
You really can't do it!
Marty13 · 15/05/2022 03:03
I actually don't find it shocking at all. I think it has a nice flow to it. I really like Emrys too (but can't use it as I'l not british and it'd sound weird in my country).
