Hi
Baby is due in less than a month. I'm convinced it's a boy (but don't know for sure). The two names on our shortlist are Danny (Daniel on BC) and Rory. Which do you prefer?

Rory

Danny.

Daniel.
You might have a child with an R problem and get Wowy.
Orphlids · 14/05/2022 05:55
Daniel, nn Danny. I really like that. Rorys are just everywhere at the moment, and I find it such a dreary name. Difficult to pronounce too. Rory’s parents always seem to think they’ve chosen an edgy, unusual name when it’s actually really popular. There’s something playful and attractive about Danny, and Daniel is wonderfully solid.

Danny. Lovely name.
pinklavenders · 14/05/2022 08:21
Many people can't pronounce their Rs properly. Rory would be very difficult to say...
Daniel is better
AdaColeman · 14/05/2022 08:25
Rory!
MissPocket · 14/05/2022 08:32
I like both but I slightly prefer Danny.

I like both, but Rory would be my choice
ButterRose · 14/05/2022 08:41
Danny

Much prefer Rory. Probably because I have one 😉 by a certain age almost everyone can say their R's, and Wowy was cute as a tot.
FinnRussell · 14/05/2022 08:46
Rory. It's a great name
LadyEloise1 · 14/05/2022 08:51
Both are lovely but I prefer Rory.
SirSamVimesCityWatch · 14/05/2022 08:51
Danny. Daniel is a great name. He can change to Dan when he gets a bit older if he wants to, but can also stick with Danny and not be overly cutesie/try had like Bertie, Wilfie etc.
MooseBreath · 14/05/2022 09:07
I prefer Danny. Rory is very popular where I am.
BanjoVio · 14/05/2022 09:46
Every Daniel I've taught was a lovely human being 😊
aSofaNearYou · 14/05/2022 09:49
For me Rory is nice but very common atm, and Danny isn't ready to come back into fashion yet. It was a common "annoying by at school" name in the 90s.
pinklavenders · 14/05/2022 09:52

Sadly some adults still struggle with it.
Imagine if you did and your name was Rory
Resilience9to5 · 14/05/2022 09:53
I like both.
But Rory seems more popular at the moment. So maybe Danny?
KirstenBlest · 14/05/2022 14:01
I like both but wouldn't use Rory as he'd be Wowy or Vovy within our family.
Daniel is a classic and can be Danny as a boy or Dan as an adult.
pinklavenders · 14/05/2022 15:37
Posters used to advise against Rupert due it becoming Wupert... but Wowy is much worse imo.
bloominglovelyorange · 14/05/2022 16:47
Daniel nn Danny is really lovely and classy, timeless choice.
Rory is nice too but feels more trendy, I know no Rory's over the age of 3, but about 20 under 3.
Firebird83 · 14/05/2022 20:58
Daniel
tulipsunday · 14/05/2022 20:59
Rory is lovely

Two of my favourite names, I absolutely love both. When I had one of my sons it was a toss up between exactly those two names
