Lowrie?

Thinking Lowrie or Lowry for a boy. Shetland name I believe.

I think it's a derivative of Laurence but also lowrie can mean fox? Could anyone shed any light?

Gentle opinions welcome...

Maybe spell it Labhraidh?
That means "speaker, spokesman".
Labhraidh Loingseach was a legendary figure.
That is the Irish spelling but I think the Gaelic is the same, would check but got to run.

I like it (love Lowry the painter). But I am too boring to be so different and on that basis prefer Laurie or Lawrie which are lovely. Traditional but a bit quirky.
