What do you think of Bellamy for a boy? Is it too out there?

It does. Bel Ami is fine friend in French.

It's awful as a first name though.

I immediately thought if David Bellamy.
However I think name trends are obviously different in different areas. A few of my australian/kiwi friends have sons with "surname" type names (Baxter, Bailey, Miller, McKenzie) thatare not as popular here.

I think it will continue to stay on my list. Still have loads of time yet to add more to the list!

I'm not a fan myself of surname's as first names, but I had actually never heard of Bellamy as a surname. Maybe it is an Australian thing. Different names are more common in different corners of the world I guess!

And I don't see the girl name association personally. I get it- Belle and Amy. But Bellamy is a name itself, and I think Bell is totally fine for a boy/man. Again, could just be the different nature of Australian culture, more laid back etc.

I worked with someone with the surname Bellamy and he was always known as Bellendamy because he was!

Couldn't get that thought out of my head to be fair and if it was shortened to Bell too feminine for a boy. Don't do it.

Definitely David was my immediate thought!

Just googled David Bellamy to see what he was up to these days.

Apparently he's rustling about in the bushes in the sky . No doubt in khaki shorts.

Bellamy from The 100 will be the instant connection for many.
I happened to like the character and the name.
You just have to decide if you like it enough to put up with comments about it.

I like Bellamy for a girl. I don’t think it works as well for a boy
