Our 4th baby girl is due in the summer.

Madeline
Matilda
Primrose

All 3 go lovely with our other dd's names
Primrose I think is beautiful but is it too out there.. which do you prefer and why.

Love Madeline

Poppypip1 · 26/03/2022 11:36

Matilda is my favourite out of those 3 😊

Adventing · 26/03/2022 12:17

Matilda Primrose is a great combination

Gigi97 · 26/03/2022 12:29

I prefer primrose

LBFseBrom · 26/03/2022 12:36

Madeline. One of my best friends at school was called, 'Madeline' - Maddy. I think it's a lovely name and quite classic.

ISmellBurnings · 26/03/2022 12:53

Madeleine.

Matilda is too popular and I’m not a fan anyway. Don’t like Primrose.

Favourodds · 26/03/2022 12:55

The estate agent I bought my house from was an extremely beautiful and very sweet Prim. I really liked it.

octoberfarm · 26/03/2022 13:18

Madeline is beautiful. Absolutely love it!

DramaAlpaca · 26/03/2022 13:19

Matilda or Madeline.

Definitely not Primrose, that 'prim' bit is horrible.

mintich · 26/03/2022 13:23

Primrose

beans1992 · 26/03/2022 14:43

Primrose is lovely! And Prim is a great shortening I think. Reminds me of the girl from Hunger Games.

I think people always react to anything a little different but actually it’s a straightforward name to spell and say. Matilda is quite bland to me. Madeline is ok, but would definitely be Maddie so you have to be ok with that I think.

DinaofCloud9 · 26/03/2022 14:50

I like Madeline and Matilda. I really dislike Primrose, I'd hate that to be my name. It's prissy.

Luredbyapomegranate · 26/03/2022 14:54

Matilda or Madeleine - both lovely, would probably go with Matilda as I am not keen on Maddy.

Primrose I think it’s appallingly wet.
The fact that poor bullied Mrs Shipman was Primrose doesn’t help much either.

Who on earth wants to be called Prim as a nn?!

Prim and Proper is not what you want a 21st century girl to be.

RestingMurderousFace · 26/03/2022 14:58

Primrose is lovely, so pretty.

scottishnames · 26/03/2022 14:58

OP I like Primrose best out of your selection, but - though this may not matter at all - it's no longer 'out there'. It's one of the names that's been growing fastest in popularity over the past two or three years. This website lets you check trends in baby names in England and Wales over the past 25 years:
names.darkgreener.com/#primrose
Even so, there is now such a large number of names used for girls that the total number of babies with any name, except perhaps the top 20, is never going to be very great. (There were only 320 babies named Primrose in England and Wales in 2020, for example.)

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 26/03/2022 14:59

Prim a great shortening?!

Yuck.

Dinoteeth · 26/03/2022 16:42

And Prim is a great shortening I think

Really?? Who on earth wants to end up as Miss Prim.

BrokenRecords · 26/03/2022 16:43

Primrose. Is violet out ? Just looking at your user name x

NeedleNoodle3 · 26/03/2022 16:46

Madeline
Matilda is awful.

DogsAndGin · 26/03/2022 17:08

Primrose

Mumofgirls2017 · 26/03/2022 18:28

Ivv ve like Matilda best but it is popular

I love Primrose too, would nn Posey

BeyondMyWits · 26/03/2022 18:33

My friend (57) is a Madz... fab shortening of Madeline.. she's Maddie to her family and Madz to her mates... still...

BlueFlavour · 28/03/2022 10:28

Primrose

AddictedToVinted · 28/03/2022 10:42

They're all pretty but I'm not too keen on Prim as a shortening.

Marigold, Rosalind, Margeruite? Just some suggestions that spring to mind.

Congratulations Smile
