Penelope - 4, dislike Penny as nn and feel like the full name is a bit of a mouthful and slightly horsey. Prefer Daphne.
Elizabeth - 6 - bit dull but versatile, like Beth as nn
Clementine - 8, really growing on me. You may also like Camille.
Hermione - 3 - too 'Harry Potter' and horsey, and reminds me of Hermes delivery service
Phoebe - 10 - gorgeous, I have one
Madeline - 9 - but spelt and pronounced Madeleine. Not keen on Maddy as nn
Zoey - 5 - spelt Zoe. Nice meaning, bit dated. Eve? Zahara?
Felicity - 4 - ok, bit horsey. Florence? Fleur?
Beatrice - 6 - would give Beatrix a 7, sounds stronger

Toby - 1 - so wet
Digby - 1 - awful, sounds dredged up from an Enid Blyton book
Lochlan - 5 - meh
James - 3 - dull
Oscar - 4 - overdone
Charles - 2 - Charlie is sweet, Charles just reminds me of the soon to be king
Zachary - 6
Maxwell - 5, will be Max, bit dated
Caspian - 7, very Narnia but quite like it

MrsEricBana · 20/03/2022 21:45

Digby 0
Toby feels weak to me
All the rest are solid though I agree s/be Zoe and Madeleine

Penelope - would you use the full name?
Elizabeth - classic, many nick names
Clementine - yes quite innocent
Hermione - Harry Potter
Phoebe - I like
Madeline - too sweet
Zoey - people may think it's a nickname. Can be hard to live up to
Felicity - elderly person name
Beatrice - Princess, quite okay but I don't really like any one th enick names
Best for me: Phoebe

Boys
Toby - too biblical?
Digby - no, to me like a dog's name
Lochlan - Scottish connection? How des it go with your surname?
James - classic but that can make it a boring choice. Ages well.
Oscar - Wilde. Good.
Charles - too common IHMO
Zachary - Quinto
Maxwell - I like
James - as above
Caspian - considered this but for ever the Narnia connection and sea connection

Best for me: Maxwell

Girls
Penelope - 6. Pretty but overdone. Love nicknames Penny and Nell though
Elizabeth - 9. Biblical, strong, classic. Obviously overdone but won't date badly and nickname options are amazing! Eliza, Lizzie, Beth, Betsy, Betty
Clementine - 6 Love as a full name and like nickname Minnie (the Clementine I know is a Minnie) but don't love Clem/my.
Hermione - 10. Two great namesakes in the saint and of course Harry Potter's friend. Beautiful and classy and underused. Like nn Minnie.
Phoebe - 7. I would love it but it's too popular lately so it dropped a few places
Madeline - 3. Boring.
Zoey - 5. Pretty but boring.
Felicity - 9. Lovely meaning, like nn Flo and Flissy and Cici.
Beatrice - 9. Love nn Bea.

Boys
Toby - 6. Cute
Digby - 5, like the sound but isn't it the name of the big red dog?
Lochlan - 4. Don't love, don't hate
James - 5. Classic, like nn Jimmy, but not very exciting
Oscar - 7, like Phoebe I would love it but it's too popular
Charles - 2, don't really like
Zachary - 3, don't really like
Maxwell - 1, dislike
Caspian - 7, it's cool, but if I was Cassian or Cassius I'd give it 10! So cool

Pandypuff · 21/03/2022 05:21

Can I suggest Tabitha, Clemency, Flora, Cecilia, Jemima?

RockinHorseShit · 21/03/2022 05:45

Girls
Penelope 6 but will be Penny 1
Elizabeth 4 it's nice enough but way too common
Clementine 1, nn Clemmy 🤮0
Hermione 1 too common around here, much prefer Harmony 9 & only know 1
Phoebe 6
Madeline 3, common & will get madly/mads 0
Zoey 0 awful especially spelled like that
Felicity 7, pretty but also becoming common around here. Cicely has a similar pretty ring to it, but much less common, so a 9 imo
Beatrice 4,though Beatie as a NN is nice 7

Boys
Toby 2 too cutesy for a man & will become Tobe by his teens 🤮
Digby 0 dreadful
Lochlan 0 Lachlan 9
James 5 good solid but common & boring name
Oscar 4 too many around her, though Oz is a pretty cool nn
Charles 5 good solid but common & boring name
Zachary 0 Zachariah 5
Maxwell 0

Caspian 3 nn Cas 0. Maybe Carlton ?

Girls - we obviously have really different taste in girls names (but similar in boys names) so do take this with a pinch of salt
Penelope - 4 - for some reason I just have never liked the name and find it a bit drippy
Elizabeth - 8 - lots of great nn choices, I like Libby
Clementine - 4 - just too frilly - and orangey - for me
Hermione - 3 - I don't know, I just find it quite annoying as a name, possibly because I find the HP character quite annoying, and also it makes me think of hermaphrodite
Phoebe - 4 - Same as Penelope
Madeline - 5
Zoey - 4
Felicity -7 - nice meaning
Beatrice -7

Boys
Toby -10 -Love it
Digby - 3 -it sounds like an Edwardian lounge lizard with a moustache
Lochlan 7 - I prefer Lachlan, I didn't realise it could also be spelt
James - 10 - excellent name!
Oscar - 7 - OK, I find it a bit meh because I know quite a few
Charles - 8
Zachary -7
Maxwell - 5 - I'm afraid it just says instant coffee/ sex offender to me
Caspian - 6 - I do like it but it is too fantasy-land/ Narnia for me, like naming a child Aragorn or Aslan
