Similar names that you love and hate

I was thinking how strange it is that we just know whether we like a name or dislike a name and how there is often not much rhyme or reason to it.

Are there any names you love where there is a really similar name you dislike?

For example I like the name Lara but I dislike the name Laura, and I like Eve and Ivy but dislike Evie.

I love Lara but dislike Kara but quite like cara !

Love Kate, dislike Katie. Just a very different feel.

I love Oliver for a boy but I don't like Olivia.
I like Laura, but not Lauren.

Love Isabelle, hate Annabelle

Love Lucy but not lily.
Love Eve but not Eva.
Both I think because I know of people with those names which unjustifiably puts me off them.
Had this conversation with dc3 tonight as her teacher named her puppy Rodger because shes never taught a Rodger so has no bad connotations with the name.

I think Julia is a beautiful name. Julie is awful.

The oddest... Shawn is good. Sean is bad. Literally sound the same out loud.

I quite like Craig. Greg... Not so much.
