Hi all 🤍

We're expecting a little girl in the summer and are really stuck on names. Middle name is going to be Rosina (my nans middle name) but we just can't get set on a first name.

We both really love Daphne, we love that's it's quite vintage and that you don't hear it often but we're just not 100%. What do you think of the name daphne?

Some of the other names we really like are ..

Cecily (CeCe)
Beatrice (Bea)
Penelope (P)
Adelie/Addison (Addi)

Please help us or leave any suggestions 😭

Thanks so much xx

Love Rosina. Daphne makes me think of Bridgerton but she's a good character so that's not a negative connection. Or Scooby Doo.

Love Daphne!

I found you can't please everyone with names but it's what you love that matters.

It's a beautiful name - good luck to you x

Rockmehardplace · 01/03/2022 21:45

Daphne is awful. But Beatrice is beautiful.

Lolliepoppie · 01/03/2022 21:46

I love the name Daphne!

Synchrony · 01/03/2022 21:50

Daphne Rosina is gorgeous, I love it.

I know three Daphne's in real life. None of them are shortened to Daf, in response to a pp.

As a little kid, I knew a rather fantastic old lady named Daphne.

It was on my shortlist, but was one of several names rejected by DH.

Love the name Daphne
One of my favourites

WeasilyPleased · 01/03/2022 23:43

Daphne makes me think of flapper girls and fun. Its a great name.

Brevill · 02/03/2022 01:06

You really need to use Daphne now op. It's beautiful.

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/03/2022 15:18

Daphne getting quite popular I think (Bridgerton) but I find it a bit wet - makes me think of Daffy Duck. I think PP is right through, it's part of the early 20th century revival names.

From you list I love Cecily, and Beatrice is a classic - prefer them both to Daphne. Penelope is nice in itself, but you cannot stop her ending up Penny which is drab. Adelie/Addison is appalling (sorry..)

Verity, Felicity, Ismene (Iz-mee-nee or Iz-may-nee), Ione (Eye-oh-nee), Coralie, Circe (Sir-cee), Briony, Lois, Jocelyn, Frances, Edith, Adeline, Adelaide, Vivienne, Marianne, Meredith, Caroline.

Meandthesky · 02/03/2022 16:58

I love it!

Also love Beatrice from your other choices

If I’d been blessed with another kid and it was a girl she would be Daphne. I already have a Penelope!

We're expecting a little girl in July and we've picked the name Daphne. I love it 💕

Merryclaire · 26/06/2022 08:53

I love the name Daphne - it was on our shortlist but we eventually cut it as the nicknames Daff and Daffy aren’t very nice. You might not call her one of those but guaranteed others will.

Cindie943811A · 26/06/2022 11:19

I agree with you @Merryclaire . Daffy Duck!
Zombie thread, btw

Love Daphne too - I think we have similar taste as our girls shortlist was very similar to yours. We liked Cordelia - so many lovely nickname choices. The Mitford sisters (for the 30s country house vibe) were Nancy, Deborah, Diana, Jessica and Unity.

And Pamela I think
