Just wondering if anyone is like me and is sad they will never use a particular baby name!
Mine is olive !! I long for a baby olive but no more babies for us!

Bit of a different take on the question, as I haven't managed to get pregnant yet, so here are some names I really like but already know I could never give them to a child

Iphigenie (I think it's cool, from "Iphigenie auf Tauris") it's just too weird, too out there, also would be shortened to Iffy, which isn't good.
I always struggle to come up with any boys names, but I thought Sebastian would be nice, it wasn't until I told my partner that then we'd have a "little Basti", that I realised in English that sounds like Busty. Also not a good nickname 😕
I also think it's a shame that all the old German names have almost disappeared and been displaced but more global English (american) names, to the point where you hear one of the classic names and you only think of your 70 year old smelly great-uncle. Kinda wish more people would use them for babies again (in Germany obviously) but I won't be the one cause I too think of smelly 70 year olds when I hear those names.

I also have like a dozen names for girls that I love but definitely won't have enough children to use them all, so maybe in 5-6 years I'll be able to update you with the names that didn't make it

Polly
Nancy

@Fangdrew

Matthew ❤️ so sweet. I don’t know why it’s not more popular.
I agree. It’s a lovely name
SirChenjins · 05/02/2022 11:46

I have a Matthew Smile It makes up for not being able to use Magnus!

SprinkledGlitter · 05/02/2022 14:23

Louise
Daniel

Pamlar · 05/02/2022 19:51

I love the name Isis. I just think it's fresh and cool sounding for a girl and chic for a woman. But obviously it's totally unusable now.

squatternutbosh12 · 08/02/2022 21:03

Colin. I’ve always liked like name since childhood.

I’m pregnant with a boy. Perfect, I hear you cry!

Our surname is Collins.

squatternutbosh12 · 08/02/2022 21:04

… on the plus side, at least this means I really like my married name 😂

PinchOfVom · 08/02/2022 21:08

I wanted Magnus

I didn’t convince the overlord. We went for something else

My son is actually the tiniest kid in his year - I am so grateful we didnt name him that!

worriedmummyofboys · 08/02/2022 21:24

Heidi cos I love the name but I have 2 boys and no plans for any more children

Mumoblue · 08/02/2022 21:31

My son was almost Daniel, and while the name I ended up going with suits him better, I still really like Daniel.

And Alice and Lauren for girls.

Firebird83 · 08/02/2022 22:49

George and Alexander

Enko · 09/02/2022 07:47

Karenza and Raine

Rowena and Seraphina are high up there too .

Oddly the 4 were the names we didn't use for ds and dd3 and I love their names so it's not name regret.

DemBonesDemBones · 09/02/2022 16:52

Eugene and Allegra.

89redballoons · 09/02/2022 17:23

Marianna - would have been our girl's name. We would have called her Mia or Mimi or Annie or Marysia in Polish. Maria and Anna are both family names.

Currently pregnant with my second which will be our last and it's another boy. I love my DS and am delighted to be having another son but miffed I won't get to use my perfect girl's name!

CanofCant · 09/02/2022 23:14

Ramona, Ambrose, Veronica, Diego.

Kittykatmacbill · 10/02/2022 19:29

So many unused girls names Greta and Heidi are the ones closest too my heart though.

TatianaBis · 10/02/2022 20:18

Guinevere, sounded so weird with our surname, so went with another mythological character, but I do miss it.

Iseult. Absolutely loathe Izzy with a passion and what else would she be.

Lysander, Tybalt/Thibault, Dimitri.

TatianaBis · 10/02/2022 20:19

Sholto, Ossian.

Marcipex · 10/02/2022 21:37

Faraday. I dreamt him.

Alcoh · 10/02/2022 21:41

Raffa. I mean it’s scruffy.

Alcoh · 10/02/2022 21:41

Oh and Tabitha

KohlaParasaurus · 10/02/2022 22:00

Felicity, because my mum said, "Eeeew, no, that's a CAT'S name."
Hamish, because my mum said, "Eeeew, no, he'll get called Ham."
Fiona, because it was the name of my XH's teenage crush and he was the one who suggested it, otherwise it would have my first choice for DD1.
Lydia, because two of my friends chose it for their daughters.
Judith, because I didn't get round to using it.
Benedict James, because I chose it early in my last pregnancy for a boy and the baby was a girl.

I love the names I did choose for all my children.

SprinkledGlitter · 13/02/2022 12:07

Felicity is a lovely name. I have never heard it described as a cat's name before. Smile
