Confession time: i really like name Lisa. I mostly like sound of it, and also love Louise and Lucia.
Is it usable or too dated?

OP posts:

I think Lisa is nicer than Louise although may be biased by it being my middle name and the middle name of half my contempories, and also because it was so bloody hard to learn how to spell with those three vowels in a row. Much of my early work is signed Firstname Lousie Surname.

Anyway that's a bit of a tangent as OP didn't mention Louise - yes OP I think Lisa is fine and lovely, and will be relatively unusual for this generation as well.

Blackmagicqueen · 09/01/2022 17:55

I really dislike names like Lucia and versions of names with an a on the end. Prefer Louise, it is classical, I had a vintage style porcelain doll named this as a child.

TheSpiral · 09/01/2022 17:55

Sorry, I meant Louise is my middle name not Lisa

Blackmagicqueen · 09/01/2022 17:56

Lisa is okay but that is the issue, it's abit blah imo.

Blackmagicqueen · 09/01/2022 17:56

I do think it is a nice enough name though

Beamur · 09/01/2022 17:58

I think Lisa is slightly dated but maybe vintage enough to start being used again. It's a bit more interesting than Louise which is a classic name, if a bit dull (sorry to all the Louise's out there).
Elise is quite cool as an alternative.
Louisa/Lucia are a bit faux Italian for me..

JaninaDuszejko · 09/01/2022 17:59

I know a very nice Lisa so think it's a good name. I'd maybe go with Elizabeth using Lisa as a NN to give more options.

Lulu1919 · 09/01/2022 18:00

No I probably wouldn't
Liza maybe

Blackmagicqueen · 09/01/2022 18:01

I should have said sorry to all the Lisa's out there for calling it blah Blush

alienalan · 09/01/2022 18:04

If you live in London or SE, the child could be called Leee-saaaaarrrr

Lousie is more elegant

FancySomeChips · 09/01/2022 18:05

I don’t like it- Lisa Simpson

ItsSnowJokes · 09/01/2022 18:05

I don't like Lisa but I think that's more to do with the fact that the 3 Lisa's I have met were all foul so that clouds my judgement on names somewhat.

Goawayquickly · 09/01/2022 18:06

It’s a very pretty name I think. Phonetically pleasing and looks nice written. I’ve always liked it and think it’s a real shame it’s fallen out of favour.

IVflytrap · 09/01/2022 18:23

I think it's lovely. If it hadn't got so popular in the 70s (and therefore been considered dated by some people) I think it would be a very popular name today, as it's in-line with the current fashion for shorter, vowel-heavy girls names ending in "a".

Having said that, I'd find a baby Lisa a refreshing change amongst all the Isla's and Ava's and Evie's. Smile

Stroopwaffle5000 · 09/01/2022 18:31

No, but only because I have 7 friends called Lisa, maybe more!

whatausername · 09/01/2022 18:31

So so so so dated

Yika · 09/01/2022 19:37

I like it, simple and pretty, suits anyone, any walk of life, any temperament.

KirstenBlest · 09/01/2022 20:26

Lisa is fine. It's nice but it was over-popular in the 1970s

Louise is nice but was every other girl's middle name in the 70s and 80s

Lucia is nice but has several pronunciations

Synchrony · 09/01/2022 22:24

I would, I love it.

MrsMoastyToasty · 09/01/2022 22:53

I like the name Lisette.

mobear · 09/01/2022 23:11

I think it is a little dated, I’d probably go for something like Ilse if I liked Lisa.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 09/01/2022 23:13

Very 80s

I only knew one Lisa and she constantly had nits.

halloweenie13 · 10/01/2022 00:29

No it's dated in the sense it isn't dated enough to be fashionable and is yet quite a 'common; middle aged named

Ceramide · 10/01/2022 04:58

I really like it.

Essexmummy88 · 10/01/2022 05:11

Horrid and dated, I’d put it in the same category as Tina, Diane, Becky
