Baby girl name Kendall?

If I name my baby girl Kendall, do you think everyone is just going to think I love the Kardashian's?

I honestly have never seen the show but really like the name Kendall. My Grandads name was Kenneth shortened to Ken, and I think it was be a subtle tribute to him to have a name that is also shorted to Kenny or Ken.

Our first daughters name is Dakota which has an American feel to it, so I think Kendall could go quite nicely with Dakota too.

What do you think?

I would assume a big Kardashian fan. There is also something porny about it but I can't figure out why

Yamaya · 02/01/2022 12:44

I like the name but I did automatically think of the kardashians. But who cares. If you like it, use it.

GiftWrappingLikeItsXmasEve · 02/01/2022 12:51

I also immediately associated Kardashians and the hiking mint cake. Kardashians may be on the wane by the time she is older.
However I am not keen on the “dall” ending to a name, often pronounced dull. I am unusual though as most people think of the association of a name rather than the actual sounds to say it aloud. So it’s a no for me

Orphlids · 02/01/2022 12:51

I don’t think of the Kardashians, I think of the mint cake. I have a friend of a friend named Kendall. Every time her name comes up in conversation, I quickly interject with “Mink cake!” which I find hilarious, but inexplicably everyone else just seem to think I’m a dick.

But seriously, I really rather like it. And I think it goes very well with Dakota.

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 02/01/2022 13:02

Once people meet ur DD they will associate the name with her so the kardashian association is irrelevant imo
I think it's prettySmile

SummaLuvin · 02/01/2022 13:05

I did automatically think of the Kardashian/Jenners, but I wouldn't assume you had named your daughter after them. Sonically the name isn't really my cup of tea regardless.

Worth bearing in mind that fame (while intense for the Kardashian/Jenners now) can be short lived and often doesn't last for decades and decades at that level - I feel they are already past their peak. Obviously, I don't have a crystal ball, but in 20 years I think people will be saying "Kendall Jenner who?". Kendall is the 'least' famous of the sisters, and least entrepreneurial without her own businesses extending her longevity as a household name. 30 years ago the name Brooke might have made you think of Brooke Shields, now the immediate association with her is much weaker (though still exists for some). If I loved the name I wouldn't be put off using it.

Georgeskitchen · 02/01/2022 13:05

Lovely name. I knew a girl called Kendall years ago before anyone had ever heard of the Kardashians

SirChenjins · 02/01/2022 13:07

Yes, I’d think you were a Kardashian fan.

LizzieSiddal · 02/01/2022 13:09

I’d think firstly if the Kardashian’s and I’ve never seen it.

Are there any other names which start with Ken? What about Kendra?

elelel · 02/01/2022 13:11

I barely know who they are, obviously I have heard of them but I'm not a follower or a regular reader of 'celeb' news. I do know a few Kendall's that are over 20 though, so it's just a name to me, no association.

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 02/01/2022 13:15

Big fan of Lake District towns?

Bonnealle · 02/01/2022 13:18

Sounds a bit like Barbie’s boyfriend. Ken Doll.

Concestor · 02/01/2022 13:20

I immediately thought of mint cake, but I don't like Dakota either so don't listen to me! The two names do go together. What about Taylor?

WarmForDecember · 02/01/2022 13:21

I knew one at university and thought it was lovely although my first thought was mint cake....

Is there a Kendall Kardashian?

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 02/01/2022 13:22

@Bonnealle

Sounds a bit like Barbie’s boyfriend. Ken Doll.
Yes to this, a barbie doll and a Ken doll.

However, use it if you like it. It goes nicely with Dakota

PrincessNutella · 02/01/2022 13:24

I think it's okay. There have been other Kendalls.

Strokethefurrywall · 02/01/2022 13:27

I know an 11 year old Kendall, parents are American. It’s a lovely name and I wouldn’t associate with the Kardashians at all.

Soon they will only think of your daughter and it goes really well with Dakota!

OberthursGrizzledSkipper · 02/01/2022 13:31

I have a lot of Kendalls in my family tree. All male.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/01/2022 13:38

I'd have assumed you like the Lake District. I have no idea about the names of the Kardashians.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/01/2022 13:38

Oh yes and mint cake.

DukkaTheHallsWithBoughsOfHolly · 02/01/2022 13:41

I know of an adult Kendall, never thought of the Kardashians.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 02/01/2022 13:41

I think it works with your first child’s name

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 02/01/2022 13:44

I really like the name. But it does sound very American and obviously the first thing that comes to mind is Kendall Jenner.

And just an FYI I did read yesterday that the Kardashain Jenners have a new show coming out this year, so they'll still be prominently on screen and in the media

Kanaloa · 02/01/2022 13:46

It’s a nice name. My first thought was Jill from Dance Moms ‘my little Kendall’ Grin

Although I do think people would think of the Kardashians I don’t necessarily think they would assume you were a huge fan.

But yes I think it’s a nice name and Dakota & Kendall sound well for sisters!

ladygindiva · 02/01/2022 13:46

Its okay but for me personally there are way nicer names that are " Ken" based...
Kenza/Kensa ( I know 2, spelt both ways)
Kendra
for instance
