I’m writing a manuscript but I’m struggling to name the main character.

She’s in her late 30s. Working class, British. Ruthless, but for the greater good, beautiful, clever. I’d like something feminine but hard sounding, if that makes sense.

Any ideas?

I reckon lots of those names seem unusual for the period or background you describe. I think something like Kayleigh, Keeley, Stacey, ( as pp said) seem more likely. Mel, Leanne (Lee) seem a good shout from above. In fact I had a friend at school in the eighties who was a female Lee and she was much as you describe.
