The one next door to me (67 ish) is eva lin

I had a great uncle and a great aunt with the name and both were pronounced Ev-lin. This is in the West Midlands, I wonder if it’s more generational for the pronunciation?

All the Evelyn’s I know (my mum’s age - late 60s) are pronounced Ev-lin. I know a couple of young ones who are pronounced Eve-lin. I’ve never heard of an Ever-lin.

Eve-lyn is my default, but I have met one who pronounced it Ev-lyn so I'd probably ask!

Like a cross between Ever - Lyn and Ev - Lyn. The middle syllable when I say it is very short but just there.

Ever-lyn and Ev-a-lin sound the same to me, and that's how I say it.

I have a friend Evelyn, whose name is pronounced Ev-Lyn. She can’t bear being called Eve-Lyn!

My late grandmother was an Eve-lyn and to be honest I prefer it. Eve for short, can you do that with an Ever-lyn?

Eve -Lyn is what feels “correct” to me, but Ev-Lyn is an acceptable, somewhat posh alternative. Everlyn sounds wrong to me.

However, Evelina would be more natural pronounced as Everlina to me.

I know a woman in her late 60's/early 70s who pronounces is Eve-lyn and a 5 year old who is Ever/lyn.
