Rosa - like but I think an adult would prefer Rose
Nessa - ok (prefer Vanessa)
Cassie - not a fan of it as a standalone name, seems a bit unfinished?
Sylvie - lovely
Cora - ok
Cleo - has become a bit too common
Callie - nice enough
Rowan - sounds too male to me
Robyn - nice and strong name I think!
Noa - lovely
Lyra - sounds too much like Lycra Blush
Indie - nice enough but maybe not serious enough for an adult
Billie - ditto
Jessie - ditto
Elsie - too cutesy
Raya - I like this - like a ray of sunshine Smile
Ria - nice but prefer Nia or Mia
Marla - lovely! Haven't heard this before
McKenna - I find Mc names as first names a bit weird
Florence - bit boring/frumpy to me

BHX3000 · 19/12/2021 16:27

I like Robyn, Noa, Jessie and Elsie. Although I’d use Jessica with nn Jessie.

RavenclawsRoar · 19/12/2021 16:28

My favourites are Sylvie (this has massively grown on me recently), Cleo and Rosa. I don't really like McKenna - that looks like a surname to me. My suggestions: Lydia, Daisy and Rowena.

Thanks for all the comments!

It’s making me laugh how much dislike McKenna is getting - I really don’t like it but my OH is obsessed with it! He tells me off for misspelling it though.. should be Mckenna, taken from the actress Mckenna Grace from ghostbusters.

I’m sure that spelling makes all the difference Grin

McKenna 'Mc' and 'Mac' mean 'son of'. They are technical terms; no getting away from this. Will your daughter be a son?

Luredbyapomegranate · 19/12/2021 18:19

Some lovely names

Favourites
Cleo
Cassia nn Cassie
Robin (spelt like that)

Nice
Jessica nn Jessie
Cora
Florence
Calista nn Callie
Sylvie
Vanessa nn Nessa

Lovely but way overused
Rosa
Rowan
Lyra

Don’t really like
Billie - blah
Elsie - twee and overused
Noa - the Noah confusion will be annoying

Dislike
Raya - sounds like a depressed barmaid in 1955
Ria - same
Marla - same
McKenna - not a name, naff
Indie - ditto, also being overused, will end up the Sharon of the 20s

Comedycook · 19/12/2021 18:20

Very nice names..to my taste

Especially like Sylvie and Lyra

Billyliarohdear · 19/12/2021 18:29

I like Cassie. How about the similar Carrie?

Skeumorph · 19/12/2021 18:40

Haha I could have guessed a stinker like McKenna in that list would be the sole offering from the DP!

Usually, it's a lower case k when the prefix is mac, not mc.

McKenna
Mackenna

Like McKenzie, Mackenzie.

Mckenna looks even worse. Tell him he's not naming an extra in Buffy.

Skeumorph · 19/12/2021 18:41

Oh and suggestions!

Saskia
Inga
Anna

IgneousRock · 19/12/2021 18:44

My favourites are Rosa, Cora (or Cara?), Robyn, Lyra, Jessie.

Least favourites are Cleo, Noa, Indie, Billie, Marla, Mckenna.

DaisyWaldron · 19/12/2021 18:44

Nessa is my favourite - I love a good strong mythological name, and Nessa's transformation into a woman who was no longer gentle and easy is a great one to give a girl.

I also like Rosa, Cora, Cleo, Callie, Lyra and Florence. I'm a bit prejudiced against Billie because I know one who I don't like much, but I think I would probably like it otherwise.

borisisaprat · 19/12/2021 18:46

Not massively into any of them but at a push I would say go with Cora

SleepingStandingUp · 19/12/2021 18:57
