Rosa - like, I know 2, so possibly gaining in popularity
Nessa - ok, bit Gavin and Stacey
Cassie - Cassia, Cassie seems too nicknamey
Sylvie - Sylvia is great
Cora - ok
Cleo - like
Callie - meh
Rowan - love
Robyn - prefer Robin
Noa - no
Lyra - like
Indie - no
Billie - short for Sybil?
Jessie - 90s
Elsie - cutesy
Raya - nah
Ria - diarrhea
Marla - nope
McKenna - god no
Florence - ok, hipster

I'd go for Rowan or Sylvia

How about Fern, Seren, Nia, Esther?

delshell · 19/12/2021 21:31

Florence stands out to me. It's a beautiful name. Less keen on any of the others but I am a bit of a traditionalist!

tiredandgrumps · 19/12/2021 22:37

A few of your choices are currently on our list for the future Smile, from your list my favourites are:

Rosa
Sylvie
Cora
Cleo
Callie
Robyn
Indie

Suggestions would be:

Norah
Louisa
Chloe
Alice

LozMarieFielder · 20/12/2021 09:05

Rosa - vintage, very nice
Nessa - really cute as nn, but I wouldn’t see the point of having it on it’s own
Cassie - always loved this name although it’s not my usual style, I like it as nn for Cassiana
Sylvie - haven’t got the greatest association with the name but can’t deny how pretty yet cool it is
Cora - have been really liking this name lately, makes me think of mermaids
Cleo - love this name, looks great on paper too
Callie - meh, sometimes I like it sometimes I don’t. Also would have to be short for something
Rowan - can’t stand it on a boy or girl, despite having good associations with the name
Robyn - really pretty
Noa - have nothing against the name but I think Noah is better (and for a boy that is)
Lyra - quite pretty but seems to blend into all the l names that are popular at the moment (lara, layla, luna etc)
Indie - love love love! So cool and pretty at the same time
Billie - very much associate it with the singer, otherwise it’s okay - haven’t got much of an opinion on it except I think it’s better on a girl
Jessie - I love Jesse on a boy, but can only see Jessie as a nn for Jessica
Elsie - really cute, will definitely be in the top 10 in a few years
Raya - haven’t ever really considered this name but it’s quite cool
Ria - not bad
Marla - not a fan of Marley so I’m not a fan of this
McKenna - I think this just let down the whole list, sorry
Florence - gorgeous, just don’t shorten it to Flo!

My top 3 from your list would be Indie, Cora and Cleo.

Other suggestions:
Willow
Sadie
Tegan
Felicity
Selena
Cecily
Kennedy
Winter
Hallie
Darcy

Lois
Fern

Thanks so much everyone for your thoughts. I'm pleased to tell you (after every single person hating it) my OH has agreed to stop going on about bloody Mckenna. I've told him he can give the name to one of the chickens when we get them as a compromise Grin.

There were quite a few on the list that were just fillers, so they've now been scrapped, as didn't get an amazing reception anyway.. The new list is as follows:

Rosa
Florence
Cassie
Sylvie
Robyn
Cleo
Lyra
Jessie
Indie - Keep flitting between liking this and think it's a bit try-hard down-market hippy chav (if that's even a thing!)
Raya - Similar to Indie.
Remi - Newcomer to the list... has all the hallmarks of a name I'll love for a week then decide we hate, but we'll see!

Thanks for all the suggestions. There's lots on here that I really like but OH has vetoed. Couple that I hadn't considered but really like though, such as Hazel and Clementine (though worried Clemmy is a bit clammy).

Also, current DD's name is Maggie, so need to consider which ones go well with that.

My current fav is Slyvie, but OH isn't sure. We're both quite keen on Robyn. Both like Florence, however not not sure if we want a mega popular name and don;t really like Flo... could be a lovely middle name though!

My current fav is Slyvie
Sly for short? Sound too much like Slimy for my liking

Wellington17 · 20/12/2021 11:12

Sorry - typo! Sylvie

OP posts:
grcrobbo · 20/12/2021 20:16

Cassie or Cleo are my favourites

Billyliarohdear · 20/12/2021 20:36

Not keen on the Remi. Reminds me of the similar Demi which is a touch downmarket (sorry). Just don't use Leigh as a mn ( apologies to anyone I've offended).

I'm sticking with Cassie as my favourite.

Wellington17 · 20/12/2021 21:06

I feel like Cassie is a bit of a dark horse that could grow over the next couple of months. Really like it and was pleasantly surprised by the positive responses on this thread

Rosa - beautiful!
Nessa - my favourite, so pretty
Cassie - a nice nickname for Cassiopeia
Sylvie - Sylvia is nice!
Cora - Not my favourite!
Cleo - It's alright!
Callie - Ok!
Rowan - Interesting choice!
Robyn - Nice! I prefer with an 'I' but your choice!!!
Noa - Lovely
Lyra - Again, love this so much!
Indie - Quite nice
Billie - Pretty, like Billie Eilish
Florence + Raya - Very pretty

StarJumpAlertTakeCover · 20/12/2021 22:11

Not Cara

It means 💩

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 20/12/2021 22:20

Rosa: like
Florence: like
Cassie: ok
Sylvie: like
Robyn: love
Cleo: love
Lyra: ok
Jessie: no
Indie : no
Raya: love
Remi: ok

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 20/12/2021 22:22

Also love Noa from the original list.

mangodreams · 21/12/2021 00:00

Rosa - don't like at all
Florence - nice enough but will get shortened and Flo/Florrie are awful
Cassie - not a fan
Sylvie - always thought this quite an ugly name
Robyn - meh, very dull name
Cleo - I like this one, cute on a child and classy for an adult. The only thing that puts me off is the car name
Lyra - love this
Jessie - too 1980s
Indie - prefer India which could then be shortened to Indie
Raya - not a fan
Remi - boy's name? Plus I just think of the rat from the Disney movie.
Hazel - ugly name, I don't understand why this is so popular now.
Clementine - love this name and Clem or Clemmy or Cleo are all cute shortenings (also like similar names Adeline, Emmeline)

Onlinedilema · 21/12/2021 06:14

I would go with Rosa.

delshell · 21/12/2021 15:57

To be honest, the only one I really like is Florence.

Leeloo1233 · 21/12/2021 21:30

I love Elsie, vintage and beautiful and an old feminist name and not 'twee' like many say..

I also like Sylvie but it's mega dated in France, but I'm sure that's not an issue for many

Also love Lyra. Sounds so musical.

peaceinourtime · 25/12/2021 08:25

Cleo sounds cheap. I know its popular.

solbunny · 25/12/2021 12:11

Sylvie is a gorgeous name, I'd always wanted to call my daughter this if I ever have one, but m my husband has an aunt with this name and she's a nice lady I'm sure, but as she's not close with my husband it would be a bit odd for us to name our child after her! Smile

Florence is really nice too.

I don't like "Mc" names as first names, and whilst Raya is nice it is also the name of a celebrity dataing app so that's something to bear in mind!

AmIgoinghomeforXmas · 25/12/2021 12:19

Came on to say that MacKenna is a truly awful girl's name but see you have given up on it.

AmIgoinghomeforXmas · 25/12/2021 12:20

Cora is really nice.
