First baby expected in April. Surname is long, complicated and South African so wanting something quite simple and classic for a first name. Current favourites:

Alice
Iris
Clara
Rose

My favourite changes week by week, currently love Iris and DH’s favourite is Rose. Other suggestions welcome!

I love Rose x

TatianaBis · 30/11/2021 15:22

Love Iris.

Rose is very overdone.

Samanabanana · 30/11/2021 15:22

Alice and Clara are my favourites!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 30/11/2021 15:25

I like Clara as not as widely used.
Iris was on my list but think it because quite popular

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 30/11/2021 15:25

Id stay clear of Rose now thanks to Stacey Soloman and Daniel Lloyd

NuffSaidSam · 30/11/2021 15:29

I love Clara.

I like Alice.

Rose is nice, but a bit popular.

I don't like Iris. Just makes me things of eyes.

How about:

Maeve
Anna
Isla
May/Mae

Holly60 · 30/11/2021 15:34

Alice is probably the most truly classic name. The others are more vintage than classic I’d say.

jpbee · 30/11/2021 15:35

Alice is my favourite. I would have had it on my own list but a close friend named her daughter Alice so I chose a different name.

Holly60 · 30/11/2021 15:35

Having said that Iris is a really beautiful name

Newuser82 · 30/11/2021 15:36

Clara

BlueFlavour · 30/11/2021 15:38

Love Iris. Beautiful flower abd goddess of the rainbow, I think Grina

mysteriouspearl · 30/11/2021 15:41

Clara or Iris

confusedlots · 30/11/2021 15:42

I love Clara, it would have been my choice if I'd had another girl.

ILoveShula · 30/11/2021 16:33

Alice is the only one I like.

mewkins · 30/11/2021 16:35

Evelyn? Rosalind?

OhRexy · 30/11/2021 16:36

They're all lovely. My favourite is Alice though.

Pemba · 30/11/2021 16:53

I love Alice. Clara is also very nice, although I prefer the 'Clair-a' pronunciation and I guess you are going for 'Clah-ra' ?

Rose is nice, although I prefer Rosa really.

Iris I don't really like, although the meaning(s) are beautiful, the sound of the word isn't really.

17caterpillars1mouse · 30/11/2021 16:58

I love Clara and Iris

OrangeAndYellowAndBlue · 30/11/2021 17:27

I love Iris, it's beautiful. (However, I do think it's suits best if you're tall and willowy, not solid like my lot 😄)

daisypond · 30/11/2021 18:16

Iris

Roselilly36 · 30/11/2021 18:31

Out of that list, Rose is my favourite.

TatianaBis · 30/11/2021 18:42
