Baby name, Winter??

We are planning our second baby soon and if we have a girl I love the name Winter. However, surname will be Williams and I'm not sure if it sounds too much? Any thoughts would be welcome and also middle name ideas :) Thanks.

I love it with Williams and am never sure why it's so polarising as a name - I grew up with one in the 80s (in a very non-trendy city, mind) and nobody gave her name a second thought?

I love it! She would have to have been born in winter though, otherwise it’s a bit odd. I know a Winter and she does get shortened to Winnie a lot.

I think you need to be careful with middle names so she doesn't sound like a paint name. Eg Winter Rose sounds like is a shade of pink

That’s an interesting observation.

It also seems that the middle name needs to be a “thing” as well as a name maybe ? Such as Dawn, Grace, Rose - as some how the just names feel clunky - eg

Why couldn't you call your son Winter? It's not a girl's name, it's a season?

Love it, it’s beautiful. Think it would work well with another surname as a middle name, like Winter Smith Williams or any others in your family?

Otherwise Winter Hope, Grace, Joy or Rose are very evocative

I love the name BUt she has to be born in Winter- otherwise will be silly. Also goes great with your surname I think! Winter Williams sounds lovely and nothing wrong with WW initials either
