What are your thoughts on both the name Ludovic and the name Ludo? I know Ludo can be a short form of Ludovic, but I like it as a stand alone name too. What would you think of someone with either name? What would your expectations be? Thanks

It's OK. Do you know it's a board game? Middle-aged people will remember (pre-ipad and streamed TV, it was what passed for fun)

Middle-aged people will think Ludovic Kennedy and childhood board game. Both good associations

My son had a Ludo in his class when he was at school (would be about 30ish now). I had never heard of the name before but it suited him.

Love.

I thought Ludo Bagman, but I'm a HP nerd. Still like it.

TuftyMarmoset · 29/09/2021 16:00

It's a bit poncy. Could be the new Hugo Grin

Balonzette · 30/09/2021 14:50

I know a Belgian Ludovic. I like Ludo.

leavesthataregreen · 30/09/2021 14:51

I like it - long and short versions.

ladycarlotta · 01/10/2021 15:24

I really like it - very cute although I'd think of it as more 'foreign' than something like Luca or Rocco which seem to have been embraced by English-speaking parents. I'd be more like to assume that a child called Ludo/vic had at least one non-British parent, but that's not at all a bad thing. Just a thing.

I'd also go with Ludovic and Ludo for nn.

ladycarlotta · 01/10/2021 15:25

(I mean it strikes me as very francophone)

Blubells · 01/10/2021 17:48

But the French version is Louis!

Peach01 · 01/10/2021 23:42

@celestebellman

Also know a dog called Ludo!
After Ludo from Labyrinth maybe Smile It's cute. I would just think Ludo's parents were Labyrinth fans.

@Blubells

But the French version is Louis!
The French use both Ludovic and Louis.
wombforanotherone · 02/10/2021 08:34

I only know dogs called Ludo but I guess it fits with the trend of kids being called 4 letter names ending in O so why not

Boxty · 03/10/2021 10:56

My old boyfriend had a dog called Ludo. His sister thinks he was named after the Labrynth character but Ludo was actually named after a West Ham player 🤣
That is so funny because we had a dog called Ludo, also named after a West Ham player 😂😂😂😂

bravelittlepenguin · 05/10/2021 20:20

Absolutely love Ludo. If I had a Ludo I wouldn't bother with a long name.
