It's a no from me. Sorry .

Boiling potatoes before they go on the oven to make chips.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 14/09/2021 06:18

I don't like it. How about Bianca?

Roselilly36 · 14/09/2021 06:29

I don’t like it, sorry. So many lovely girls names, but Blanche isn’t one of them IMHO.

aramox · 14/09/2021 06:39

Just means White. Odd choice. A kitten, or the bitchy aristo in Jane Eyre.

I like retro American names in general but I don't like Blanche at all. I much prefer Blythe as suggested by pp.

Similar vibe-
Lois
Pearl/ Merle
Nancy
Betty
Lilian
Clara
Dorothy/ dotty
Edith / Edie

A hard no from me. Such an unattractive name both to look at written down and to hear.

I don’t get the vegetables link. Firstly, it’s spelled “blanch” and secondly the ending is hard in blanch but soft in Blanche.

I love the idea of it, but in reality it’s a lot of sound to squash into one syllable.

I also prefer Blythe but tend to think of it as a Scots name.
