Am I going to call my baby boy...

Francis (Frank/ie), Jude, Isaac or Patrick?

(Suggestions welcome, but I think we have considered every boys name that currently exists in the English language. At least, that's how it feels. Also, I am fussy)

I love Jude and really like Isaac. Not keen on Francis or Patrick.

I don't like Jude and Francis makes me think of old priests!

This thread is, so far, a snapshot of my brain on an average week. I keep changing my mind!

Fwiw, my ranking of most to least favourite is:

  1. Patrick
  2. Francis/Frank
  3. Isaac
  4. Jude

Problem is, I think my partner's favourites are the direct inversion of mine.

I love Francis, going to use it as a MN if we ever have a boy. Patrick is also lovely.

Jude and Issac feel a bit more 'trendy' to me which puts me off, but appreciate not everyone feels that way!

@BingBongToTheMoon funnily enough, we are both staunch atheists and we're as surprised at anyone at how religuous these names are!

If your and your DP's favourite names are Patrick and Jude, you need to choose Francis or Isaac.

I love Frankie but really dislike Francis.

Patrick is the only one that abbreviates. Are you ok with patch, paddy, pat, as these are fairly inevitable nicknames from friends and family? Do you mind being asked regularly if you have Irish connections?

That said Patrick is my favourite and top of my list! It's a very strong, reliable name.

Jude and Francis are both nice but not as strong sounding.

Isaac is so often misspelt or typo'd! That would put me off.

Surprisingly it's hovering at around 120 on the ons name lists. They must all live in another part of the country from me as I don't know any!
