Vivia? Or other names with nn Vivi

Would you consider Vivia as a nice name for a girl? Vivian/Vivien is out as they are masculine names in France (DH is half French), and can't use Vivienne or Viviana due to pronounciation issues.

The nn Vivi is so meaningful to us I really want to use it but I'm really struggling with finding a longer name for Vivi. Violet also not good as apparantely too close to the word rape in French..

Thanks for help!

Would you reconsider Viviana? It’s gorgeous.

HunkyPunk · 05/09/2021 21:21

Genevieve is a great suggestion!

PaperDolphin · 05/09/2021 21:22

Olive or Olivia

NoGoodOptions · 05/09/2021 21:22

We have an Aviva, which mean spring time in Hebrew.

LemonCake79 · 05/09/2021 21:24

My friend's daughter is Vivi, short for Vivien. Her partner is from a French speaking country and hasn't ever mentioned it being a masculine name.... does it matter than much if she will be brought up in the UK?

Orphlids · 05/09/2021 21:28

@NoGoodOptions, I came here to suggest Aviva! I think it’s so very beautiful and exciting. I’d never heard it before I watched a film about Leonard Cohen, and one of his friends was named Aviva. She was such an interesting and charismatic woman.

I also think Genevieve is a great suggestion. Although I also think Vivi would be a rather lovely name in itself.

BikeRunSki · 05/09/2021 21:31

Aviva just reminds me of unreliable green buses!

Any name beginning with v could be Vivi, but I’m love the suggestion of Genevieve.

iloveredwine · 05/09/2021 21:33

Virna or verna. I was at school with a virna

Genevieve is a brilliant auggestion

PearlyRising · 05/09/2021 21:35

Oh I didn't know Vivien was still used for men in France.

I love Vivien but not loving Vivia, sounds like a skoda car or something.

PearlyRising · 05/09/2021 21:36

Aviva is also a stadium in Dublin so there could be (bad) potential for jokes there.

bumhug · 05/09/2021 21:37

I have a friend who has a Sylvie. She calls her Vivi.

Mumdiva99 · 05/09/2021 21:40

Just name her Vivi. No need for a longer name you won't use.

Vivi is cute and unusual.

My aunt is Vivian. We used to call her Vivvy until I realised no one else did and changed to Viv. But Vivi from birth is ace.

GoogleWhacked · 05/09/2021 21:40

Vivica

Although I really like the PP suggestion of Genevieve.
