Chester originally was my second choice, unfortunately we had a dog called Chester who died so now I won't be using it, but I love the name

RussianSpy101 · 03/09/2021 12:38

Still a link to John for your dad.

Brilliant, it’s a lovely name. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

WhoppingBigBackside · 03/09/2021 13:18

I'm glad you liked my suggestion Smile

Chester to me is the city and think Lester would be nicer (not the similar-sounding city)

I don't like Ches as a nn.

Lester is ugly to my eyes and ears.

Chester John is definitely an improvement in Chester George!

Though George John is a massive improvement on Chester anything, not that you care what people think.

George John was on the list, just a bit boring.

I do care, but I care what I think more Smile

I'm not keen admittedly, but I do like Lincoln.

clarkkentsglasses · 03/09/2021 14:03

I love it

Lester is a sleazy 60-something who rubs up against women on public transport Envy

I love it. It was my choice for DC2 until I found out I was having a little girl

WeAreTheHeroes · 03/09/2021 14:15

It's a place not a first name. Plus it's what many Cheddar cheese copies are called in France.

Otherthanetta · 03/09/2021 14:15

Holly Willoughby has a son called Chester. His middle name is William which I also love. I don’t think the middle name has to be one syllable

" It was adopted as a first name as early as the 16th century. It has never been very popular in Britain, but it has been used in consistent (if low) usage over the last 500 years as births in England and Wales show: 1840s: 41 births 1850s: 33 births 1860s: 45 births 1870s: 62 births 1880s: 77 births 1890s: 75 births 1900s: 68 births 1910s: 59 births 1920s: 58 births 1930s: 48 births 1940s: 83 births 1950s: 30 births In America, however, Chester was much more popular, ranking in the top 100 from 1880 to 1929. Loads of baby names are also place names e.g. Florence, Austin, Georgia, Chelsea etc etc

I went to Uni with a Chester. I'm not aware of anyone calling him Chester the Molester.

John goes very nicely as a middle name for Chester.

Boredmotherofone · 03/09/2021 15:03

@PricklesTheHedgehog

Chester George sounds like chest of drawers.
This! Hahaha 🤣
Boredmotherofone · 03/09/2021 15:03

@Otherthanetta - I dislike the majority of those too.

Chester John sounds like you meant Prester John (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prester_John ) but got it a bit wrong.

I really like Chester! Good name Smile

The only famous Chester I can think of is Chester Bennington, so no negative connotations. And it's definitely better than Lester!
