My girls name list is all over the place, which you can see - thoughts on these?
Audrey
Clementine
Charlotte (Lottie)
Persephone (love Percy as a NN)
Clothilde
Penelope (Penny- hmm)
Dido
Ida
Elizabeth (Elsie?)

Persephone is lovely, a friends daughter is Persephone and it just really suits her. I also really like Elizabeth, although I prefer Beth, Eliza and Betsy as diminutive.

The others are okay, except Dido which just makes me think Dildo, and Ida which is in too many 'who is it?' type jokes.

Elizabeth nn Eliza is my favourite
Charlotte is nice but dislike the others

I love Clementine from that list.

I'd take out clothilde, Dido and Ida.
Please bear in mind op that parents do not create or control nicknames. Peers do.

Dido is too like dildo.

Not keen on Persephone, Clothilde or Dido but like all the others.

Charlotte and Penelope are nice.
Elizabeth is ok.
Dido is too close to Dildo.
Others are not too my taste.

I like Persephone (will she forever be called Percy-phone though?), Audrey and Elizabeth.

Dido is the worst idea ever for reasons stated above.

@PostMenPatWithACat fair point, by nn I mean what we would call them. Once they get to school I know anything goes for the other kids.

@MysteriousMonkey does your friend have other children? What are their names? (Can’t be more outing than Persephone!) I’d love to understand what kind of names people think it goes with since I have two boys already

I really like Audrey - to me it's so elegant and I don't understand why it's not more popular these days! Clementine and Persephone are both gorgeous- possibly prefer Persephone purely because I don't like Clemmie as a nn (sounds like clammy!). I love Penelope and Elizabeth- both classic, beautiful names - you can't go wrong there. I don't really like the others.

Audrey - sounds drab to me (apart from Audrey Hepburn)
Clothilde - never heard of. How is it pronounced - Clot-Hide, Cloth-ide, Cloth- Field
Dido - Dildo

The other names are lovely, and a nice mix, including unusual names but known.

Audrey - love

Charlotte (Lottie) - nice enough but a bit boring
Persephone (love Percy as a NN) - posh, which is fine if you don’t mind that. I don’t like Percy for a girl though.
Clothilde - I don’t know how to pronounce this. Looks like the name of a cleaning product
Penelope (Penny- hmm) - love
Dido - dildo
Ida - eiderdown?
Elizabeth (Elsie?) - love Elizabeth, not a fan of Elsie though. I don’t love any of the nn to be honest but it wouldn’t put me off the name.

I like Charlotte and Elizabeth.

Dido is awful and I don’t like Persephone.

Audrey - I actually quite like this one. Other names which spring to mind - Camille, Sylvie / Sylvia, Orla, Martha, Aurelia
Clementine - bit twee, but cute for a little girl - not so sure for an adult
Charlotte (Lottie) - bit dull
Persephone (love Percy as a NN) - bit OTT I think, though I like other names with a similar vibe e.g. Ophelia, Ariadne, Athena
Clothilde - nope
Penelope (Penny- hmm) - like Nell as a nn, but Penny is awful and not that keen on the full name, feels a bit stuffy.
Dido - singer / dildo
Ida - like. Ada? Iona? Iris? Una?
Elizabeth (Elsie?) - ok, lots of nn potential. I like Beth.

Audrey - old fashioned but not in a trendy way

Persephone (love Percy as a NN) - pretentious
Clothilde - not a clue how to pronounce this!

I absolutely love Clothilde, I've loved it ever since I heard it in a Miss Marple. So, that's my favourite.

I like the rest apart from Elsie as a nickname. Still an old lady name to me.

Audrey - Absolutely love Audrey! One of my favourite names.

Clementine - Nice but not my favourite. Cece could work as a nickname which I like.

Charlotte (Lottie) - It's way over used and IMO doesn't sound very nice. Lottie is a nice enough nickname though.

Persephone (love Percy as a NN) - Really dislike this name and nickname, sorry.

Clothilde - I've never heard this name before but it sounds like a cleaning product to me...

Penelope (Penny- hmm) - Love Penelope! So many gorgeous nickname options to choose from.

Dido - Doesn't sound right at all.

Ida - Not my style but I still think it's a nice name.

Elizabeth (Elsie?) - Elizabeth is nice but I dislike the nickname Elsie. Eliza or Liza would be nicer IMO.

Audrey - LIKE

Clementine - NOT KEEN

Charlotte (Lottie) - LIKE

Persephone (love Percy as a NN) - Pretentious

Clothilde - no idea how to pronounce??

Penelope (Penny- hmm) - like but getting popular if that bothers you
