I'm desperate at picking names! Can someone please help me with original, not really popular Irish names! We don't know the gender, but I'm struggling more with girls names 🙈🙈

Sorry for going off topic. Here are some names I think are unusual but people with kids in Gaelscoileanna might be able to say.

Fóla is nice name. I think I would spell it Fodhla to avoid unfortunate lost fada incidents, since "fola" means "blood".
Fraochán is quite pretty. Means heather child or blueberry.
Lallóc - modern spelling Lallóg
Téite, Téide
Uaine

For girls (can't do a fada on my phone)

Raonaid
Doireann
Etain (I love this one)
Ailbhe
Eadaoin
Muire

Boys
Ruadhan
Rian
Tiernan
Fionnan
Eanna
Lorcan
Odhran
Muiris

Love Raonaid but not sure I could get away from the Raonaid Murray association myself. It's like Reeva, love the name but only ever heard it on Reeva Steenkamp.

It's 22 years since Raonaid Murray died. A whole generation has grown up since then who will not necessarily make the same connection, but yes for many Irish people it will always be a name they associate with Raonaid Murray. Which is sad as it really is a very beautiful name. The thing is that if Raonaid had had a more "common" name, such as Mary for example, nobody would have had the same association. If I had another daughter it would definitely be a name I would use.
