What does everyone think of Hardin for a boy? I heard it recently and I really like it.

OP posts:

Jesus wept Hmm

SkiingIsHeaven · 18/08/2021 02:10

Middle name Fast?

whatausername · 18/08/2021 02:20

@SkiingIsHeaven

Middle name Fast?
😂
HPLikecraft · 18/08/2021 02:42

I genuinely didn’t instantly think “hard on”, I thought ‘what a bloody horrible name.’

Then I thought hard on.

alexdgr8 · 18/08/2021 02:48

is this meant to be a joke ?

NiceTwin · 18/08/2021 02:56

You can't saddle a kid with a name like that, you just can't!!

LifesNotEnidBlyton · 18/08/2021 02:57

It will be a problem OP. The odds of your DS getting through high school (and primary school TBF) without children making the link and laughing at him is next to 0 I would think.

Even adults will laugh, they'll just think it and not say it. But people will think it, because it's one of those "How did the parents not see that?!" type names.

1forAll74 · 18/08/2021 03:12

Awful name. but never actually heard of it being a name for a child.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 18/08/2021 03:48

You don't think it would be a problem?
Well you never met the old head teacher at my d's school who had that as his last name. I heard children in year 6 giggling about Mr hardon. Can't imagine what it would be like for a teenager

Newcastleteacake · 18/08/2021 04:30

Let's hope he's not too sensitive otherwise to handle all the bullying he'll have to Hardin up....

ThiagoSilvasToe · 18/08/2021 04:41

Please don't. I have a family member who gave their child the middle name Hardin. It's awful.

Giggorata · 18/08/2021 05:37

You can't be serious…

CeeceeBloomingdale · 18/08/2021 06:05

Just no

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 18/08/2021 06:11

@StrawberryMacaron

Really? I would never have made that connection. I'm not sure that it would be a big problem in real life though.
And all the people telling you they would think of hard on here haven't changed your mind about this?
EdgeOfACoin · 18/08/2021 06:52

I think there are too many people who would make the connection, especially if they don't see the name written down. Sorry OP - I used to love the name Rhea until I discovered that the girl in my school named Rhea was often nicknamed Diarrhoea. Put me off it, sadly.

Someone suggested Hayden as a name. What about that? It's a nice alternative.

custardbear · 18/08/2021 06:55

At a push I'd say Harding, but really honestly PP are all correct, bullies at school, forever called hard-on

Rainbowshit · 18/08/2021 07:06

Immediately thought hardon. Please don't subject your child to this!

Raindancer411 · 18/08/2021 07:07

Oh no, you would be setting him up for years of teasing at school

manhattenrain · 18/08/2021 07:15

Sorry but I really dislike it and as others have said, it sounds like hard on...

Hope you can find another name you love.

manhattenrain · 18/08/2021 07:16

What about Arden?

jozipozi31 · 18/08/2021 07:16

13/14 year old Hard(o)n will not thank you. Sorry. Babies grow up ...

ChrissyPlummer · 18/08/2021 07:16

@HPLikecraft

Same here! I’m trying not to wake DH with my laughing 😂
BikeRunSki · 18/08/2021 07:21

It’s one of those threads:
OP - how about this for an idea ?
MN massive - terrible idea
OP - I think it could work
MN massive - no , it’s really a terrible idea

torchh · 18/08/2021 07:26

@whatausername

It could only be worse if you named a daughter it.
🤣🤣🤣
Lockdownbear · 18/08/2021 07:27

@Newcastleteacake

Hard-in-up was actually my first thought. And I think what he'd be teasted about in primary while the kids still have a bit of innocence about them. But moving up to secondary and beyond it would Hardon and be forever known as hard on.
