What does everyone think of Hardin for a boy? I heard it recently and I really like it.

Even Hawarden in Wales gets pronounced Hardon, please don't call your child Hard on

GuckGuckDoose · 17/08/2021 21:02

Yeah it really annoys me on these threads when people come up with the most random and unlikely potential name-calling issues, but this one would absolutely end up being called… Hard-on.

Sorry 😬

ufucoffee · 17/08/2021 21:31

He will be absolutely slaughtered at school, college or Uni and possibly until he's 30. Please don't inflict such a cruel name on him.

DemBonesDemBones · 17/08/2021 21:45

I say yes to most names if you love it. But Hardin? Like hard on? It's a definite no.

NCkitchen · 17/08/2021 22:00

No.
Terrible name

Lalliella · 17/08/2021 23:14

Noooooooooooo! Hard-on

Sisisimone · 17/08/2021 23:18

@StrawberryMacaron

Really? I would never have made that connection. I'm not sure that it would be a big problem in real life though.
Really? I can't believe there us anyone that would NOT make that connection. Crack on if you want your child to be relentlessly bullied and hate you forever for giving him that name though.
OverByYer · 17/08/2021 23:20

Don’t be ridiculous
He will be called Hard on his whole life

Twatterati · 18/08/2021 00:28

It really will be, trust me, children and teens are merciless.

Do you like Haydon? Similar but not so close to Hard-on.

Whattheschitt · 18/08/2021 00:32

Definitely not.

IdblowJonSnow · 18/08/2021 00:41

I sniggered upon seeing it and I'm in my 40s!
Don't do it...

It totally would. Or wood!! Big fat no.
Moonface123 · 18/08/2021 00:46

Oh this really made me laugh, you couldn't make it up.

Buttercup54321 · 18/08/2021 00:48

Badly spelt version of the surname Harding and virtually everyone thought of hard on.
Yes it really would be that bad. Wake up OP, you are being a little dim!!!!!

Snugglybuggly · 18/08/2021 00:49

Awful

Lockdownbear · 18/08/2021 00:53

Primary kids wouldn't get the joke but OMG he'd be given a hard time from about 13 to 30 then people will just snigger behind his back. That's if he doesn't change it first.

Check out the AIBU thread with the teen who wants to change her unisex name to Rose!

maddy68 · 18/08/2021 00:54

If you want a child thats bullied for the rest of it's life it's fine ...
Otherwise be a definite no

rooarsome · 18/08/2021 00:54

As in the awful One Direction fan fiction which they turned into a film...? Absolutely not

Whycantibetangy · 18/08/2021 01:08

Bully magnet! Just as you wouldn’t call your child Dick or Fanny please don’t name him hard on.

If its the sound you like have you thought about Aiden?

thefirstmrsrochester · 18/08/2021 01:14

By all means if you want your child to be made fun of for their entire life.

Topseyt · 18/08/2021 01:24

No!!! It would definitely become hard-on. I fail to see how on earth anyone could not make that connection. It is just sooo obvious.

The bullying would be relentless, especially in his teenage years. Give your child a proper name, not one that he will be embarrassed about and ashamed of.

TootTootTootToot · 18/08/2021 01:28

Lol, I wonder how many kids have this name 🤔

BrozTito · 18/08/2021 01:30

Of course not. Call him something sensible like stiffy

ShippingNews · 18/08/2021 01:40

@StrawberryMacaron

Really? I would never have made that connection. I'm not sure that it would be a big problem in real life though.
Of course it would be a problem. Kids ( and adults) will immediately make that connection. It's the first thing I thought when I read the name.
MumofSpud · 18/08/2021 01:42

You are joking right?
I work in a secondary school - please do not do this to your child - it will not end well.
