Thoughts on Leonie Louise

Hi All. Me and the OH have been really struggling to agree on a girls name. For family reasons, Louise was always going to the middle name. We eventually discovered that we both really like Leonie. But OH is a little worried that Leonie Louise is a bit of a mouth full.

What do you all think?

I think they work absolutely fine as first name and middle name. Smile

mediciempire · 21/07/2021 15:04

I like it.

thesunwillout · 21/07/2021 15:14

I like it

As long as your surname isn't Cool J

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 21/07/2021 16:13

It's fine, middle names are only occasionally used (and to be honest I quite like the alliteration!).

Seasidesusy · 21/07/2021 16:20

It sounds like Leona Lewis!

Missingthesea · 21/07/2021 16:21

I think it's really pretty.

@Seasidesusy

It sounds like Leona Lewis!
Exactly what I thought
StarryStarrySocks · 21/07/2021 16:24

Yeah it's too much of a mouthful, I wouldn't use those names together.

SnakeyTakey · 21/07/2021 16:25

I think it's better to use a middle name with meaning rather than a random name chosen because it 'flows'.

SurferWoman · 21/07/2021 16:27

Leonie Louise is nice

KirstenBlest · 21/07/2021 16:27

It doesn't flow all that well but she'll be known as Leonie Eightytwo not Leonie Louise

ChessieFL · 21/07/2021 16:30

I’m never sure how to pronounce Leonie - is it Lee-OH-nee or LEE-oh-nee?

Chilldonaldchill · 21/07/2021 16:30

I think it's fine.

ofwarren · 21/07/2021 16:33

I read Leona Lewis when I first saw it

Lol! Can confirm that is not our surname! 😂

Ahhh, Leona Lewis is maybe why the names on their own seem a little familiar! I'm pleased to say once our surname is added to the end, I think the association/familiarity drops loads :)

@SnakeyTakey , I agree that I'd rather a meaningful middle name with a name we really like, rather than a random name that flows better ... thanks for putting that in words for me!

Thanks for the comments everyone, all good feedback :)

I really like it.

PlainJane1000 · 22/07/2021 05:17

I recently had my child and after obsessing over flows of first and middle names for months before he was born, his middle name was used when we announced him, once at a medical appointment booking and on his passport application form and that's it so far, so I would 100% say choose the first name you both love, honour your family member and don't worry about how the two names flow.

peaceinourtime · 22/07/2021 08:49

Leonie is a bit too much of an older name that hasn't come back yet. I had a Liberian in primary school with that name.

OliverBabish · 22/07/2021 08:54

It’s lovely

Tal45 · 22/07/2021 10:11

Leonie is lovely, unusual but in a good way. I don't think it's an issue at all as middle names are so rarely used anyway. I've known someone since childhood who has three long old fashioned middle names, I had no idea until he got married and they said his full name!

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 23/07/2021 18:37

Too similar, they look very similar written down.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 23/07/2021 19:00

It's fine.
Middle names are rarely used anyway. It's not like everyone will be calling her Leonie Louise.

MrsGilly1 · 24/07/2021 08:02

Sorry I don't think Louise goes.

How about something like Leonie Catherine? X

AbsolutelyPatsy · 24/07/2021 08:06

it is nice, assuming you wont really be using the middle name?
