38 +4 weeks here and still can’t decide on name for DD. We’ve had Lucy and Bath as major contenders and keep swapping back and forth, Caroline is a newish entrant. I would go for NN Callie/Carly though I think 🤔.

Which do you think sounds best?

I get hyphens aren't everyones thing but how about Lucy-Beth
I'm not feeling Carly from Caroline. Other than that its an nice name.

DoucheCanoe · 08/07/2021 00:51

Beth is one of my favourite names.

Lucy is alright and I like Callie as a name on it's own but dislike Caroline/Carly.

ColonelPine · 08/07/2021 00:55

I like them all. Elizabeth would be my choice, NN Beth, then Lucy, then Caroline. I also like the name Carly, and Caro as a shortened form of Caroline.

olidora63 · 08/07/2021 00:58

I would personally go for Olive, pretty and unusual but like Caroline as well or Carrie.X

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/07/2021 02:33

Caroline is very nice - an elegant international classic , yet very underused in the UK now for some reason. Must admit I'm not especially keen on Carly but the Callie and Caro nn's are quite cool.

I like Beth as a nn for lovely Elizabeth (which is the ultimate timeless "cant go wrong" name imo) but on it's own it feels a bit unfinished to me.

I should like Lucy as another classic, but the sound of it is just too cutesy for me, sorry.

maras2 · 08/07/2021 04:01

Ahh. I have a Lucy Caroline.
She's 46 now Smile

mathanxiety · 08/07/2021 04:12

If you like Carly, then call her Carly.

It's a perfectly nice name.

Of the three you mention, I like Caroline best, but I wouldn't use Carly as a nn. Possibly Carrie.

Blueberry40 · 08/07/2021 04:25

Definitely not Caroline. Lucy is lovely and Beth is pretty too.

miltonj · 08/07/2021 05:38

Gotta be Caroline!

Awrite · 08/07/2021 05:51

I like all three names. I see Caroline as being from my generation though (so due a comeback Grin).

I agree with others- if you like Carly, use Carly.

RavenclawsRoar · 08/07/2021 05:53

I love the name Beth so that gets my vote.

GalacticDragonfly · 08/07/2021 06:11

Caroline may be about to rocket up the name lists, particularly if England win on Sunday. I’d be very clear about how you feel about Sweet Caroline, because you will hear it forever.
Still, it is a lovely name in its own right and at least it avoids the possibility of a generation of baby girls named Gareth.

cariadlet · 08/07/2021 06:20

I've got a Beth so am biased but obviously love the name. It's also surprisingly uncommon for a fairly traditional name.

SquarePotato · 08/07/2021 06:24

Definitely not Caroline.

Beth & Lucy are both great names.

Bryonyshcmyony · 08/07/2021 06:27

Caroline is lovely but Carly is horrid.

AnyaMoondial · 08/07/2021 06:28

I love all three, great names. I prefer Carrie/ Callie as nn for Caroline.

wizzler · 08/07/2021 06:41

Like them all but love Caroline nn Caro or Carly

Twizbe · 08/07/2021 06:42

I always say, when you're down to 2-3 names, wait until baby is here. One might just fit her better than the others.

Also prefer Elizabeth with the nickname Beth.

PearlNextDoor · 08/07/2021 06:53

My favourite there is Beth, then Caroline which I really like! Caro or Lina could be the nn?
Not a fan of Lucy. It's just so Sharp.

CakesOfVersailles · 08/07/2021 06:55

I like them all but would use Beth as a nickname for Elizabeth rather than standalone. At this point I would probably wait to see her before settling on a final name.

SweatyBetty20 · 08/07/2021 07:14

I’m a Caroline. I sometimes get Carrie (or Caz, ugh) but never Carly. Just be prepared for her to be serenaded by “that” song every pub closing time, family do, and large sporting event for the rest of her life :-D

Blueskyemily · 08/07/2021 07:29

I like them all.

Lucy Caroline sounds nice?

SweatyBetty20 · 08/07/2021 07:33

Just realised I’m almost actually two of your choices - I’m a Caroline Bethan.

Roselilly36 · 08/07/2021 07:45

I prefer Lucy of the options, I quite like Caroline, but I think will have a revival due to the England Football Team using Sweet Caroline as an anthem, may lead to lots of little baby Caroline’s!
