38 +4 weeks here and still can’t decide on name for DD. We’ve had Lucy and Bath as major contenders and keep swapping back and forth, Caroline is a newish entrant. I would go for NN Callie/Carly though I think 🤔.

Which do you think sounds best?

I love Caroline. I'd use Callie or Caro as a nickname I think, or maybe Carrie. I like Beth as a nickname for Elizabeth. Lucy is fine but definitely my least favourite of the three.

Theoldwoman · 08/07/2021 08:20

Lucy then Caroline then Beth.

DoucheCanoe · 08/07/2021 09:59

If you wanted full name/NN then I'd go Bethany/Beth or Calista/Callie.

Personally I prefer to just use the name I like - no need for formal names nowadays as many "nicknames", like the ones you've chosen are well known in their own right.

Bryonyshcmyony · 08/07/2021 10:01

Cazza seems to be the accepted nickname round here

MissMissTorrance · 08/07/2021 10:08

Caroline on bc. Carrie day-to-day.
Also like Lucy.
Dislike Beth.

periwinkle86 · 08/07/2021 10:27

I love Beth of your options. Would use it myself but doesn’t really work with the surname. I don’t think you’d need to have Elizabeth on the bc unless you wanted to - it works on its own.

Agree with others that Caroline might be about to have a resurgence, in England at least, due to Sweet Caroline.

ILoveShula · 08/07/2021 13:54

I'd go with Caroline because it is more unusual. Lucy is very popular and Beth a bit dated.

I like Cally (that spelling) and Carly.

I'll offer Catherine and Susan.

adrianmolesmole · 08/07/2021 16:20

I like beth, nn for Bethany (not Elizabeth) - it's very pretty and soft.

Twokitstwokats · 09/07/2021 21:12

I love Lucy and Beth. Caroline is clunky, awkward and old fashioned in comparison.

35andThriving · 09/07/2021 21:25

Caroline is lovely. I like Beth. I would use Bethany as the full name, personally.

Moonface123 · 09/07/2021 21:56

These names being a real sense of nostalgia, to be honest l like them all, and quite refreshing in comparison with many popular names today.

nike0828 · 09/07/2021 23:04

Lucy is my favorite out of the options. Lucy Caroline would be nice!

Thewishingchair123 · 09/07/2021 23:12

Beth is such a pretty name. One of my faves too and had I had a girl it would have been a contender!
Lucy is pretty too.

Scarletbutnotohara · 09/07/2021 23:14

My daughter is Lucy Elizabeth. No hyphen but we’ve called her Lucy Beth affectionately since she was born Smile she is 11 now and loves her name!

Scarletbutnotohara · 09/07/2021 23:15

I know a little girl named Carolina- I prefer that to Caroline x

PuffinDodger · 09/07/2021 23:16

Love Caroline

35andThriving · 10/07/2021 10:27

I reckon Caroline is going to get very popular this year!

Mncrmum · 10/07/2021 14:19

Elizabeth would be potentially her middle name - Lucy Beth ❤️

Caroline is pretty but I feel like it shouldn't be and I don't know why. Its a name that i like, but I feel like I need to add 'for some reason' after i say 'i like the name Caroline!' Carly is horrible - dated and ... Dare I say it ... Chavvy. Callie and Carrie are lovely though.

Beth and Lucy are also pretty.

If I had to choose between all of them and Olive, though, I'd choose Olive in a heartbeat. (I am assuming you previously asked about the name Olive, going from a PPs comment?)

I'd choose

  1. Olive nn Liv
  2. Carrie/Callie or Caroline nn Carrie/Callie
  3. Beth
  4. Lucy
