What do you think about this name Harley Aria Clarke?

I've always liked Harley for a girls name. I was debating wether Aria would be better for a first name but I preferred Harley. Clarke is the surname and I was wondering if Harley goes with it. What do you think of this name?

Harley is a bit over done and chavvy. Also the name of my mums dog.

GrimDamnFanjo · 06/07/2021 11:34

Harley and aria is a mouthful together...

ChessieFL · 06/07/2021 11:34

I don’t like Harley, but it does go fine with Clarke.

Carrotgarrotte · 06/07/2021 11:35

Don’t like Harley at all.
Aria is ok but doesn’t sound right with Harley IMO

lockdownbreakdown · 06/07/2021 11:38

Harley is a boys name around here and very down market. Aria is better but also down market as its after a Game of Thrones Character. I would go back to the drawing board as it's the child who will have to live with your choices.

piglet81 · 06/07/2021 11:40

Too rhymey for me. Hayley instead of Harley?

FawnDrench · 06/07/2021 11:42

Sounds like the beginning of a very bad nursery rhyme.
Plus Harley is a male name generally so no, I'm not keen at all on your name.

LaLaLouella · 06/07/2021 11:42

Few too many 'ar' sounds for it to flow properly to my ears...

Also, and I mean this nicely, the Harleys around here are all dogs....

wanderedlonelyasacloud · 06/07/2021 11:43

My immediate thought was the same as the above poster, each name has an "ar" sound in it which is a bit much for me

I prefer Aria personally, but I went to school with a Harley so that still sounds like a normal name to me

Terrazzo · 06/07/2021 11:45

hARley ARia clARke

It’s quite nice and bouncy. But the more I say it the more tongue twisted I get!

RainCloudz · 06/07/2021 11:47

I don't like Harley.

Bobbots · 06/07/2021 11:52

I really don’t like Harley, sorry. I don’t like it fir a boy but even more so for a girl.

I’m not sure about Aria, I think it has a bit of a sparkly feel to it and not in a good way. Like chandelier or diamonique.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 06/07/2021 11:53

I’m not a fan of Harley- mainly because of the Batman character Harley Quinn whose unhealthy relationship with The Joker is romanticised in a really cringe way.

Theres too many AR sounds in the full name for it to roll off the tongue, but it might just be an accent thing.

Hollyhocksarenotmessy · 06/07/2021 11:59

I love it for a fictional character, but it's very bouncy and rhyme-ey for a real person.

PattyPan · 06/07/2021 12:00

Way way too many ar sounds!
Aria is nicer than Harley, the latter is a bit masculine due to motorbike associations. But I think even with just one of the names with Clarke it doesn’t flow well, sorry. What about Halley, Lily, Hannah, Harriet (Harri/Hattie), Rosie, Anya, Alannah, Alicia?

Cavalierqueen · 06/07/2021 12:02

I like it. Harley is a lovely name and unless you are speaking to an immigration officer, the full name is rarely going to be said out loud. I don't think it's chavvy, it's a gentle sounding name.

thebattleofschrutefarms · 06/07/2021 12:06

Harley isn't my cup of tea but I prefer it to Aria. I think Aria has been so overused in the last 5 or so years.

Maggiesfarm · 06/07/2021 12:06

@QueenOfPain

Harley is a bit over done and chavvy. Also the name of my mums dog.
Yes! Footballers' Wives or a motorbike.
DeadButDelicious · 06/07/2021 12:08

Do you like it OP? Because that is the only thing that matters!

For what it's worth, I think it's a nice name. Puts me in mind of a bright sparky little girl.

Kanaloa · 06/07/2021 12:11

It’s nice. Aria is also nice, perfectly serviceable names. I do prefer Aria over Harley but that’s just because I’m not a fan of unisex names, so if it was me I’d go for Aria Harley rather than Harley Aria, but either way is fine.

Parker231 · 06/07/2021 12:13

Harley is either a boys name or a dogs. The main thing is whether you and your DH like it.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 06/07/2021 12:15

I like both, but said out loud, the names sort of run together... Harley Aria is quite a mouthful! And Harley Clarke doesn't seem to flow.

But it's your name, and there's nothing to say that names have to be easy to say or to flow, so if you love it, people will get used to it!

Rainbowqueeen · 06/07/2021 12:19

I think of Harley as being a boys name. It’s a nice name but not for a girl.
Love Aria

TotorosCatBus · 06/07/2021 12:23

Arya is the Game of Thrones character not Aria

Anyway, Aria is much prettier than Harley which is a boys name imo. The only female I know is the character Harley Quinn

I think all of the names together have too many "ar " sounds. I'd go for Aria Clarke or Harley Clarke but have a middle name without the "ar" sound.

Odinsdottir · 06/07/2021 12:25

Personally I quite like it, but I think you know deep down If you want to name your child or not. Smile

Looking on a forum like this or telling people before you've actually named the baby there will ALWAYS be someone who doesn't like it..named a pet after it..and it will put you off. Don't let it.

My child's name is a bit out there but I honestly don't care what other people think.

If he wants to change it when he's older, fine. If he doesn't like it fine. We choose their names but they have to live with them.

We live in a world now that at the drop of a hat you can change the very definition of yourself, so don't worry about what people think or deeper still how a name is permanent, congratulations on your pregnancy and I wish you all the best in your family's future x
