Decided on the name Louie for our little boy due in a few weeks.
Any suggestions for a middle name?
Not john or James
Thanks

@KirstenBlest

Spell it Louis. You could always use Louie as a nn, but Louis is by far the better spelling.
Why?

pabloescobarselasticband · 02/07/2021 23:47

Oliver! I may or may not have a child called Louie-Oliver 😳

tonyharrisonboosh · 02/07/2021 23:48

My friend has just had a beautiful baby boy and has named him Louie Frederik

pabloescobarselasticband · 02/07/2021 23:50

Mine was spelt ie because I know 2 louis and both constantly get called lewis!

OliviaNewtAndJohn · 02/07/2021 23:50

@FrippEnos

The only middle name for Louie is Louie
Oh yes 🙌🏻

I know a Louis Rey (king, pronounced Ray) and I like it.

Pigeonorcoot · 03/07/2021 02:05

Ignore the snobs OP.

Louie George sounds good imo.

Ifixfastjets · 03/07/2021 08:42

Louie graham
Louie matthew
Louie Ryan
Louie Michael

I seem to think longer names fit?

No, that’s not a fact. It’s ignorant bullshit.
VenusClapTrap · 03/07/2021 09:24

Louis Francis

TatianaBis · 03/07/2021 10:09

No, that’s not a fact. It’s ignorant bullshit

Arguably what is ignorant is not being aware that Louis is a famous French name of many kings of France pronounced Louee and has traditionally been pronounced correctly in this country.

Thus Louis Theroux, Louis Tomlinson, Prince Louis, Louis Mountbatten, Louis Vuitton are all pronounced Louee.

It’s the same principle as using phonetic spellings of Irish names. On which there’s a discussion on another thread.

You can shoot the messenger if you like, but I am simply explaining the background.

halle123 · 03/07/2021 11:24

If my thread was asking peoples opinions on how to spell his name I would appreciate your comments but as I stated we have decided to call him 'Louie' and all I wanted was some middle name suggestions, they are not appreciated 🙂

Thanks!

Well said OP.

I'd go for Benjamin or George personally.

Violetlavenders · 03/07/2021 13:05

Yes, well said op.

Louie is a lovely name and shouldn't get mispronounced!

Louie George is nice

CanICelebrate · 03/07/2021 13:18

@Violetlavenders

It may never get mispronounced but people will assume his parents couldn’t spell it properly!

CanICelebrate · 03/07/2021 13:20

I know a Louis John and a Louis Francis which both sound nice.

Benjamin
Frederick
James

MargosKaftan · 03/07/2021 14:02

Unless you are a big royal fan, don't name your child Louie George when William and Catherine have 2 boys called Louis and George... (and Prince Louis will mean you are less likely to have people mispronounce Louis as Lewis. I've not heard of anyone doing that BTW - Louis is very popular at the moment - Royal effect maybe - and are all pronounced correctly without the S)

I think Louie/Louis Richard flows nicely.

Also Benjamin or Edward works.

Also joining those saying spell it the traditional way, not phonetically when using a foreign name. I have a name that's spelt the "wrong" way compared to the way most people would presume in the UK. I've had issues with call centres not finding me on systems and not getting emails due to people presuming they know how to spell it.

He, not you, will have a lifetime of the hassle caused by it, lots of saying "Yes like Prince Louis but with no s and an e on the end."

Pigeonorcoot · 03/07/2021 14:47

@MargosKaftan tbf that could happen with either spelling - Louie is actually slightly more common that Louis in the UK right now.

Personally I prefer Louie precisely because I don't like the royal connection and I don't like using "French" names when I'm not French. Not that my preference matters of course - the OP has decided on Louie for whatever reason she wasn't asking for views on that.

Pigeonorcoot · 03/07/2021 14:48

(sorry, in England and Wales, not the UK)

Mummyof2andapig · 03/07/2021 19:47

Louie is awful. Spell it Louis
