Looking for an Irish boys name…

Really struggling to come up with an Irish boys name.

I do like Fionn, but we already one in the family, and I’m stuck for anything else that I can imagine myself hollering in the playground.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Tadhg is my favourite Irish boys name ever! It means poet. I like Eoin too. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions - a lot of them are almost a list of existing relatives. You can see my issue 😂.

Bungle are you in Ireland or England?
In Ireland at the moment you would be falling over Tadhgs and Fionns, but probably less so in England. And some of the more challenging pronunciations might be better avoided unless you are in Ireland

Sssloou · 28/06/2021 19:49

What about all the old Latin / Catholic names that were popular at the turn of the last century in Ireland - Cornelius, Aloysius, Ignatius - they must be due a come back?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 28/06/2021 19:51

Seamus - I might be biased Wink

I know a Cornelius, usually called Con, who must be late teens by now, an Ignatius/Iggy who is about twelve, and a younger Thaddeus.

Patrick?

Sssloou · 28/06/2021 19:57

Jarlath

@GoWentGone - my oldest has Cornelius as a second name after his great grandfather - I wasn't brave enough to go for first name - DS now (finally) loves it and has used to name his design business

England. Haven’t come across a Fionn, Oisin, or Tadhg yet.

Obviously I’m falling over them whenever I’m at home.
