Our baby girl is due in 2 weeks and we still can't decide on a name. I like all of the above but can't seem to settle on one. What's people's thoughts? Thanks

I'd wait until she's here. You don't need to decide now. She might just fit one more than the others.

Quinn or Willow

Fnib · 17/06/2021 11:48

I love the name Willow!

WithASpider · 17/06/2021 11:54

I love Quinn, great girl's name imo. Lucia too. Not sure about Niyah or Mila.

Willow is very popular at the moment.

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 17/06/2021 11:55

Lucia - nice but will get mispronounced. I prefer the Italian way
Mila - really like it but is quite popular and will probably get mispronounced
Quinn - boys name or very american
Niah - prefer Nia (Knee-ah)
Willow - popular name for kittens

polkadotpixie · 17/06/2021 11:56

I like Quinn, Mila and Niah

arecklessmanor · 17/06/2021 12:44

Lucia is pretty but need to clarify pronunciation, I like any
Mila - too many dogs called Milo, too similar
Quinn - just awful, non-descript, sound is not pleasing, no substance
Niah - meh, too much ambiguity about pronunciation and seems a bit made up, reminds me of Nevaeh (in a bad way)
Willow - nice nature name, I know a grown up Willow, suits child or adult

But we're all different so choose what you love.

Clickbait · 17/06/2021 12:45

Lucia and Willow are my favourites.

LostThings · 17/06/2021 12:48

Willow

Mummyneedsacoffee · 17/06/2021 12:50

Quinn - I think it’s lovely!

FayCarew · 17/06/2021 13:58

Quinn's a bit short on nn options, how about Quintiana as a bc name then she could choose to be Quinn, Quinnie, Tia or Tiana.

Violetlavenders · 17/06/2021 14:09

Yes, Quinn is masculine and strong sounding. For a girl Quintina or Quintana would be more suited.

FayCarew · 17/06/2021 14:13

Quintana could be Tana. That's pretty.

FayCarew · 17/06/2021 14:14

Quintinella could be Ella or Nella. Nella's sweet.

TatianaBis · 17/06/2021 14:51

Joan Didion's daughter was called Quintana Roo after the island.

Bryonyshcmyony · 17/06/2021 14:54

I really don't like any of them. Probably Lucia if I was forced at gunpoint. It's a bit pretentious though, what's wrong with Lucy?

Bryonyshcmyony · 17/06/2021 14:55

I know two willows and they are both rather large which makes the name a bit awful really.

SmallPrawnEnergy · 17/06/2021 14:57

I’ve only ever heard quim being referenced on older shows like men behaving badly. I don’t suppose most people would use the word now and I’m sure children your daughters she wouldn’t have a clue about it when they get older.

Quinn is a nice name, for both genders. I don’t think every name needs a nickname either I never get the obsession with nn on MN.

Lucia is pretty too.

arecklessmanor · 17/06/2021 17:26

@FayCarew

Quintinella could be Ella or Nella. Nella's sweet.
Quintinella sounds like citronella to keep mozzies away! Nellie is quite sweet though.
StealthQuin · 17/06/2021 17:35

I love these threads as my name is actually Quinn, and I’m female Grin

I’ve never been mistaken for a man, or American. I love my name and have never had any problems with it!

FayCarew · 17/06/2021 17:39

Lucia can be Looch-ee-a, Loosha, Lucy-a or Lu-see-a.

Quinn is ok as a surname but not as a first name.

Only one of the Graces I know is graceful.

The first Willow I met was a hound.

Niah looks made up.

Mila is so similar to other names like Amelia, Mia, Maya, Maia, Lila,

Willwebebuyingnumber11 · 17/06/2021 17:42

I think Quinn is quite masculine but that might be due to the boys I know called it being very stocky, tall & boisterous so I really imagine it on a girl especially not a baby.

Lucia is beautiful.

TheSpanishApartment · 17/06/2021 17:52

Lucia. It's beautiful.

Fifthtimelucky · 17/06/2021 19:11

None of these names is to my taste, which obviously doesn't matter, but I never understand why so many people seem to like Quinn, especially for a girl.

It sounds, and looks, much too much like Quim.

Violetlavenders · 17/06/2021 19:37

I think Quinn is quite masculine but that might be due to the boys I know called it being very stocky, tall & boisterous

And it sounds similar to Finn or Flynn.
