Daughters initials will be LMP

So, the name we have fallen in love with for our daughter is Lara and I want to give her my mother's name for her middle name which is Marjorie and her surname begins with P, making her initials LMP.... do you think this will affect her in later life being the abbreviation for 'Last Menstrual Period' - kids can be mean!!

I'd love to hear your thoughts....

I'm 47 and have had two babies I had no idea what LMP was supposed to stand for until I opened this. Of course nobody will think anything of it.

Bortles · 09/06/2021 12:33

Had no idea.

Muckingaround · 09/06/2021 12:39

Lol! No!!

I’ve never even heard the phrase ‘Last Menstrual Period'

freeez · 09/06/2021 12:41

I've never heard that abbreviation. I doubt there's a school child in the entire country who knows what that means

notacooldad · 09/06/2021 12:45

A massive overthink!
😂😂😂😂

@crumble82

I had to come on here to see what the problem was as had no idea what LMP stood for. I think you’re overthinking it and they’re both lovely names
I clicked to see what LMP stood for too!

Lara is a beautiful name! I had never heard of the abbreviation LMP, and I've been pregnant! I'm sure little Lara will be fine, most of her peers won't even know her middle name.

BoomChicka · 09/06/2021 13:04

Another one who didn't know what LMP meant, why would a teenager?!

Bluesheep8 · 09/06/2021 13:04

My dd initials are VD she uses her middle name when initials are required tbh no one ever noticed

It hasn't done Victoria Derbyshire any harm Smile

MiddleEasternMummy · 09/06/2021 13:07

Again had no idea what those initials meant and I've had kids .

The only time I understood LMP as a reference was when I became pregnant. This is so extra to be a concern to you. Relax. Choose the name you like. There are some surnames that are a little iffy like BUM or SEX but LMP even took me a second or so to register and I'm currently TTC number 2

Luckyelephant1 · 10/06/2021 00:05

I literally found out what LMP meant when I started TTC in my 30s and stumbled across Mumsnet. And I still didn't realise that's what you meant until I clicked on the thread. I think this is the biggest example of overthinking a name I've ever seen 😂

Lara is a lovely name x

Onlinedilema · 10/06/2021 17:27

Never heard of LMP

StyleAndLasers · 10/06/2021 17:28

Never heard of it. Assumed you were worried about it sounding like lamp, before I clicked on the thread!
Lara Marjorie is lovely.

Randommother · 10/06/2021 17:33

I immediately thought Lemon Meringue Pie! I dont think those initials will be an issue, most people only see first and last initials, and her friends wont be old enough to know what an LP is!
